GSL-SE Cruise Control Cable Insulation
I'm looking for a replacement for the insulation that covers the GSL-SE cruise control cable. Mine has deteriorated needs to be replaced.
I thought about looking to see if I can find some off a car in the junk yard but I would rather find some new insulation.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Are you doing it for looks or to keep from rubbing a hole in the cable shielding?
I guess you could always find some rubber or silicone tubing/hose, and lube it up and slide it over the cable.
Worst case you could use some wire loom, regular or the spiral type.

i'm with you on wanting it original and looking nice! i have a couple cables and actuators laying around. let me see if i have one that looks a bit better. i have not been able to find a replacement coating. the solution that i thought of was using wire loom to cover the padding on it. unoriginal of course and maybe a little tacky.. hence why i never really tried i guess.

I wonder if you could get some of that foam insulation tube that the home centers sell for A/C lines and make something out of that... I know a lot of it would be too big to use, but maybe someone sells smaller diameter stuff...
Have you looked in the Mcmaster Carr catalog? They have all sorts of random stuff

It looks like Mcmaster Carr has some good possibilities.
McMaster-Carr
I'm not sure which material it is:
-Weather-Resistant EPDM Foam
-Polyurethane
-Neoprene Spring Rubber

Looking at the price of the poly now, I'm guessing they didn't use that.
I may just pick up a section of spring rubber and epdm foam since the cost isn't that bad.

I finally got around to getting this. I ordered the Weather-Resistant EPDM Foam and Neoprene Spring Rubber. After actually getting them in the mail I can clearly see it is the Weather-Resistant EPDM Foam. I ordered part # 4339T3 Weather-Resistant EPDM Foam, Tube, 5/8" OD, 1/4" ID, 6' Length $10.38. The size matches the factory perfectly.
I will get some pictures of it when I get it installed.

The quality is very good. I think I'm going to have to split the tube to install it. I'll do a full writeup with pics when I get it done. Should be this weekend.

I finally got this done (sick kid took all my time).
It was very easy to install. I removed the end of the cable from the throttle side, leaving the it completely intact. I cut the new foam to length using the existing foam as a guide. I then cut off the old foam off the cable, basically just fell off. The bracket that is bolted to the strut tower needed to be spread apart with a screw driver. I then sprayed WD40 down the new tube and slid it over the end.
If anyone was wondering, the EPDM foam is the same foam that was used as padding on the A/C hoses.
