It will be just fine to tow it for 4 hours. Just make sure the rear tires are in good shape and ensure the muffler's tips are not so close to the ground that hitting a bump would potentially cause harm to the exhaust system.

Honestly, for the $60 a U-Haul trailer costs for a day I'd just get the full car trailer and avoid the concern of towing it on a dolly all together. I've come close to buying a car trailer several times and I realised for the price of a U-Haul, it'd take me 40-50 tows to break even on the trailer.

So im picking the car up this coming Tuesday! I am so friggin' excited. Turned out to be in better shape than I thought. As soon as I get him home I will snap a bunch of pictures and get some videos of it running so we can try and diagnose the idle issue.

Looks like it was in a wreck, compare the L/R space between the hood and fender. But for $1000 should be OK.

I've towed my R-7 on a u-haul dolly backwards. That way I didn't have to remove th drive shaft and transmision oil leak out. I hit a trailer hitch on the high way. If the car was on the dolly frontwards, it would of tore a hole in the gas tank.

So, some good news and some bad news. I went and looked at the car first before grabbing a trailer luckily. The body had quite a few panels that needed repair. Not any major rust but enough that i wasnt sure i wanted the car. A lot of stuff is a little janky on it. He had said that it had air conditioning because it was a GSL-SE but the AC compressor was missing as well as the lines. The bracket was still there, but he had mentioned that the previous owner had removed it.

It does turn over. The interior looks like it can be cleaned up decently. Overall on condition I would give the car a 5/10 on the body and 5/10 on mechanical. It definitely needs a windshield too as its chipped.

Now, with all that being said, i offered him $600 and he said he would take it. I have not taken the car yet because I have yet to be able to source some A/C lines and a compressor.

I was reluctant to take it because of the bodywork/windshield and lack of compressor/lines. Am i overthinking this and should I take it? Also there is the option of parting it out.

Thoughts, opinions?

Did you take any pictures? The a/c lines can be made, I had to get a compressor for a 1983 Honda accord. It's almost identical to my original, but I never knew if my a/c was a dealership add.

If it's rusted through on panels, then you really need to think about it since it's not running.

It does run, had to reconnect the exhaust, it was disconnected at the end of the manifold. .

I would have also bought the car for $600. That's a no brainer. It's a 35 year old car....and a $600 car. You can't expect it to be a car that's ready to hit the road. That's half the fun anyways, fixing things and bringing the car back to life. I wouldn't have batted an eye at $600 and would have loaded it up right there.
