Should i get this 84 GSL-SE? *pics*

Ok, so i found this 1st gen sitting my my work. I have a 89 TII so i dont know much about 1st gens. As you can see in the pics, the body is rough, real rough. I knew that it was a GSL-SE because it has the 13B motor in it. It has 119xxx miles in it. I talked to the guy w/ it and he has no idea what it is. He was like "yeah its an 89 or 87...or something" I obviously knew that wasnt the case, so i popped the hood, and saw its an 84. When i first talked to him he told me $400... then shortly there after he said that he would take $300 for it. So he seems to come up off of price fairly easy. So my question to you 1 gen-ers, is this thing worth $300? Im really not sure how rare the GSL-SE is, and im not sure if it is really sought after. Thanks a lot for you input.

it's worth 300 if you have time to swap the motor into something or part it out... fixing the body will suck you dry unless you are a body shop.

heh, did they run that thing in a demo derby or what?

He said it runs and offered a test drive, but i didnt have time. Is there enough demand for this to part it out?

There is always a high demand for 1st Gens. I have a GSL-SE and I love it. Course, it doesn't carry the Demo Derby look, tho. I'd say buy it as a parts car and sell off everything. You could make a ton of money doing that.

Anything you can rip off that car might be well worth it. If the steering column cover isn't cracked, but I bet it is looking at that car, that's worth selling. It's a known cause to crack it with one's own knee. Guilty. Headlight motors if they still work. The seats. The radio panels. As 1st Gens get more and more hard to come by, the better it becomes to have some parts on hand.

The car is well worth it. Offer him $150 and he will take $200. Rear end is worth $150 or better, engine if good is $600 ish, Injectoers are about $100 It took a bit of work but I parted the last SE I had at better then 1K, and the engine in it was bad.

Forget, the oil cooler if not leaking is 100 to 150.

suck you dry...no way...you can replace the entire front end for at most $500...all body work takes is a-little time and patience...it should be fun something that relaxes you...like today for example I spent like 4.5 hours doing body work...time flew...if you not in a rush it goes by quickly

but if you can bend those fenders fairly back in to shape you could net at least 150

The difference between your 90n/a and this car is that 2nd gen folks are not trying to turn their car into a 90n/a where as 1st gen folks try and turn their car into a –SE ie they want the better wheel bolt pattern, disk breaks, LSD, 13b etc..

it's the typical ugly brown/brown combo, but you have alot of parts in that car that you can part out, once you strip it down nicely, sell it as a roller for 100 bucks.

Yea new at VB and a few other over price body supply places are like 300 or so. I found a few places that make new replicas for 65 and hood for 70 as well. Now a decent bumper new closest I found new was 230. User at a JY perfectly complete for 50 humm which will I take

Buy it for 200, if you need body parts, I should have everything except a good front bumper cover. I happen to like the brown on brown. I have a GSL in that color combo I have been sitting on for 3 years. When I get around to that one, it will get repainted in the oem brown.

Test Drive the car and buy it. Who knows you might like the simplicity of the first gens plus the GSL-SE's are fairly rare and are better performing than the 12a first gens. And If nothing else you could always part it out. There has to be another First gen owner in Kansas besides me.
