good craigslist car?

I wanted to get some opinions on this rx7 I found on craigslist, it looks clean in the pictures and I would check for leaks and whatnot in person. if he truly has all the receipts is this a good buy? it has a ton of miles (almost200k), but the motor was rebuilt, so less than 100k on it.
Idk about the smoke issue hes talking about though, I read to stay away from them if they smoke when warmed up. a little at start up is fine though, correct?
Im not looking for a daily really though, im looking for a cheap project I can beat on.
Thanks guys

Go for it. Rebuilds are cheap and easy if you had to in the near future. Its complete, runs, and is in overall clean condition. Nice interior. The car is a blank slate if you choose to go for some upgrades.

car looks good, the pics aren't awesome, but it actually looks like it may be original paint. interior looks really nice too. price is right.

i'd have the engine checked at a non atkins mazda shop, i'd bet its not great, however a 12A Rx7 is like the easiest engine ever to build

That line about "Needing to be a daily driver due to oil injection which makes it smoke at startup if sitting for days at a time" is BS. Mine sits for weeks at a time and never smokes a bit. And I have 147k on the original motor.

It will cost more to fly out there and inspect it that hes asking

For that price, looks like a good deal despite any engine issues.

If you have bad side seals or oil control rings it can seep into combustion after sitting for extended periods of time.

I think its a good buy. A little puff of smoke on start up is perfectly normal. I'd grab it. The price is more than fair.

Looks really nice for $1500. I think it would be worth that. looks to be original paint and pinstripe. Interior pretty cherry.

Looks great, There are a couple other 7's north of Tacoma in good shape too i would recommend checking out (Looks like we are in the same area). If your going to check it out I would recommend doing it on a colder day to see how it will start 90% of the year in the NW.

Are these big problems/something I can do myself with minimal mechanic skill? Everyone seems to be saying rebuilding these are very easy

I actually live in Washington now I apparently don't have the authority to edit where I live lolol

are you just looking on craigs as well? ill keep it in mind. I still may not go for this one quite yet, it seems as though these cars a cheap in general despite what shape they are in.

I have heard these cars have troubles with drifting, as they flood, is this true? Because I have seen quite a few drift, and this is the ultimate goal for this car, im looking for something low power to learn on and beat up

Well I don't necessarily "Drift" (AKA Im terrible) but i have taken my 12a to evergreen for an open drift, other than my complete lack of skill and being Slightly under powered (a welded diff would of made a world of difference) I had no issues and never flooded.
