found myself back in a rx7
found myself back in a rx7
so when i turned 15 i was determined to buy a clean fb and i did, unfortunately the rotary was dead so i decided to do a chevy sbc swap ( big mistake) i finished the car when i turned 17 and enjoyed it till about 2 summers ago when things got bad for me money wise...

any way now im 20 and happened to have some extra cash called a buddy and he tells me he has an fb in good shape, no rust.. all those memories came back so i had to go check it out....

car runs and drives fine starts right up but it wont idle unless i hold the throtle at idle... idk what it could be i admit that i dont know alot about rotary's so any help would be great, car is stock all it has is a header and full pace setter catback exhaust/muffler

Check where your throttle cable mounts to the carb bracket (12mm bolts on both sides of the bracket for adjustment). My bolts wore themselves loose and caused the same issue, and when I tightened and adjusted the cable to the bracket it idled perfectly.
Or hella seafoam the gas tank.

Sounds like the carb needs servicing. Break it down and reassemble it using a Nikki carb kit. Set the idle to 800rpm. Do an online search and try resetting the carb. Tighten the air/fuel screw and idle screw all the way then back them both off about 2 turns to start.
nice 84 GS! glad to hear that you're not going to do another SBC swap. just ruins the car for me..
sounds like its time to rebuild the carburetor. not a terrible job. it will take a few hours to do it right. you can get a GP Sorensen kit from Autozone for about $30.
