i wanna get my 85 to shoot flames and i heard if you take the cat off or just gut it it will do so... which cat do you do..

Free flow exhaust. Either gut the cats, or get rid of them. Also, it wouldn't hurt to go with a straight through exhaust, as getting flames out will be much easier.

Yes, but you will have barely any flames. The thermal reactor is designed to burn off the unburnt fuel. Better to spend the money on a header.
