I'd look for a FC if you wanna drift. The solid rear axle and recirculating ball steering isn't all that ideal...

yeah, but for 700, that's a steal if it runs good. i bet you can get it for less than $500.

IMO FB's would make horriible drift cars. Read the thread about the rear suspension problems. Stock these cars have very unpredictable and twitchy oversteer. FC's are far better drift cars, and have alot more parts for drifting.

+1 to that. the highest i've been able to manage since the 23mpg on the highway on the way back is 18mpg. it's usually around 14-15mpg

If you're going to drift in it, you'd probably have to replace the rear suspension as stated above.

if you want to build a drift car, it will be fine. its just not the best drift car out of the box.

If you are building a drift car, then you would be addressing most of the handling issues anyway. Lower ride height, coilovers and adjustable rear perches, custom spring rates, sway bars, etc. My car would have no handling issues running drift competitions, I'm fairly certain.

Head over to www.re-speed.com and take a look at their suspension goodies. If you decide to move forward with this project, then Billy from Respeed will be your best friend. He has advised others on their drift setups. He advised me on my autocross build, and he got me exactly where I want to be.

It doesn't say what trim level the car is, but one thing you will definitely want is a LSD rear end. If the car doesn't come with one, then plan on about 300 bucks for the upgrade (gets you rear disc brakes too).

But either way, for 700 bucks, I'd grab that car in a heartbeat.

well said Kenetsu, the suspension really isn't a problem in drifting. The problem stated in the thread about suspension is a problem pushing the car to the limit before you lose the back-end, trying to lose the back end isn't a problem, drifting the first gen is actually pretty easy with a little power and the lightness of the car makes it respond well. I think the steering is more of a problem with the first, but re-speed.com has that handled with the ability to swap to a rack anyway. A great car to get started on at $700 plus the suspension goodies aren't that expensive!

i'll second the steering being the issue, besides if you really want to do well in drifting u'll have to modify steering to give you more steering angle.
