Engine Parts ID Help
Hey guys, I'm just wondering about some parts in my engine. I know the guy before me did some of stuff to the car, but I'm just wondering what some stuff is. Since I'm not able to use the Hayne's Manual to tell anything, because not a lot is stock, I was wondering if you guys could help me ID some parts. I know; the carb is a Mikuni, the spark cables and plugs are NGK, there is no AC, K&N filter, there is MSD Blaster Coils, the engine is a 12A from an 83 along with the transmission, the cap and rotor are from an 83 ignition, and I know there is a gas pressure thingy on the passenger side of the engine and that reads around 8psi I believe. The engine bay is a complete mess and really dirty. Here are some pictures of it, thanks for helping me get to know my car more.
Entire engine picture
Oil temp and pressure work, pressure stays at 40 during idle and temp stays at 180. how would i get water temp to work and what should that be at?
Is that a 79 break master cylinder and clutch master cylinder? or would it be an 83?
other side of engine
What is that radiator from?
Mikuni carb. Is that the stock size gas line? or is that bigger/smaller? There is a Holley fuel pump that is really loud, so maybe the fuel line is bigger/smaller than normal?
no a/c
RB headers?
fuel pressure
what year alt?

That's an SA alt, remanufactured.
The header looks to have been cut in half for some reason. Can't imagine why.
Radiator looks original.
Yes, get a new rad cap.
Yes, water temp probe in a homebrew mid-hose mount.
Engine mounts look stock.
If that frayed firewall heater hose in your "no AC" pic lets go, you'll be out all your coolant within about 2 minutes.

the engine mounts are stock...the radiator cap needs replaced. go to the dealer. i can provide the part number if need be. replace that upper radiator hose and get rid of that awful probe. the oem sender is located under the oil filter just ahead of the oil pressure sender. its near the #2 rotor's trailing spark plug. no fault of yours, it just looks lie a lot of stuff has been hacked up.

I will check that probe soon, hopefully I will be able to figure out what it is. and and i'm really trying to think why they cut the header, it's a 12a engine, at least that's what the rotor housings say. i'm gonna look at the header tomorrow, study it and see maybe why it was cut.

Yeah, this thing is hacked up, I'm really wanting to just take everything out and take all the wiring out and do it right, then put the engine back in and have it look really nice. I'll fix up the sender once I have time this weekend, thanks for letting me know where that was.

Oh my word, that thing is sexy. ^ I'm thinking that won't happen until the garage for me and my papa's 'stang when he finally buys one. My uncle recently built a garage with a lift in it for his Shelby GT-H and his older mustang, that inspired my dad to buy a 'stang (he is going to buy one in the summer sometime or fall) and build a garage for me and him. Once that is built, I will be able to organize all the tools and hopefully get some for pulling the engine and doing a complete rebuild of my '7 or getting a new engine. I can't wait for the day when my engine bay looks as good as yours.

Hahaha, I have access to 2 lifts, my uncles, and my friend's dad is a mechanic and has his own personal shop with a lift and all the tools you could want. I would die for that shop. If I lived back on our old farm, I would have access to some tools that would also have helped me a lot more now than when I was really young. I will grab some pictures of my Uncle's GT-H some time, maybe a video if he takes me for a ride in the spring.

Puts me in mind of that Rush song, "Red Barchetta"
My uncle has a country place
That no one knows about.
He says it used to be a farm,
Before the Motor Law.
And on Sundays I elude the Eyes,
And hop the Turbine Freight
To far outside the Wire,
Where my white-haired uncle waits.
Jump to the ground
As the Turbo slows to cross the Borderline.
Run like the wind,
As excitement shivers up and down my spine.
Down in his barn,
My uncle preserved for me an old machine,
For fifty-odd years.
To keep it as new has been his dearest dream.
I strip away the old debris
That hides a shining car.
A brilliant red Barchetta
From a better, vanished time.
I fire up the willing engine,
Responding with a roar.
Tires spitting gravel,
I commit my weekly crime...
Wind-
In my hair-
Shifting and drifting-
Mechanical music-
Adrenalin surge...
Well-weathered leather,
Hot metal and oil,
The scented country air.
Sunlight on chrome,
The blur of the landscape,
Every nerve aware.
Suddenly ahead of me,
Across the mountainside,
A gleaming alloy air-car
Shoots towards me, two lanes wide.
I spin around with shrieking tires,
To run the deadly race,
Go screaming through the valley
As another joins the chase.
Drive like the wind,
Straining the limits of machine and man.
Laughing out loud
With fear and hope, I've got a desperate plan.
At the one-lane bridge
I leave the giants stranded at the riverside.
Race back to the farm, to dream with my uncle at the fireside

the water pump assembly is from an 89-91, along with the fan (!?), since the FC water pump assembly had a temp sender, you should be able to move the aftermarket one out of the hose to the back of the water pump. my local NAPA stocks bushings, it makes it really easy to adapt from one thread to another. upper hose just looks like stock SA
ignition is just stock 81-85, you get NGK wires at the dealership
fuel pressure regulator is a holley
radiator IS stock, its still got the silver tag on it....
if it was mine, i'd replace all the hoses, clean it, and enjoy
BTW water temp should be 180-195... 230 is too hot
