Dip your car
Anybody try this yet. Looks fun. Could give all the (all originals) an option of changing things up for a bit. And heck I think it protects a little.

phil's done it to his FD in several different colors so far. looks pretty good to me, plus the protection factor is nice.

Da ***** da bomb. I'm just having trouble picking the right color. Wish there was a way to see what a color would look like on ur rims before u buy the stuff. I've got a charcoal grey 82 and I'm think n the black might be too much--like just dirty looking. #cantmakemydamnmindup. Suggestions welcome --please

You can still wash and wax it, but real bonding is wrenching and driving.
Since I have to build an engine this year, I'm considering dipping as a quick fix. The car is dark grey (Tornado Silver) and this video has swayed me a bit into dipping. They say it only lasts ~3 years depending on how many coats are sprayed, but it peels off easily and by then I should have enough to do a proper paint job.

You should be building your own engine.
I'd rather spend money on an engine than a paint job this year so I can get back on the track faster because I have a sports car. That's where you really bond with the car. If I just wanted something pretty and shiny to look at, I'd get a model kit. I actually just have the Hot Wheels and even that gets table top mileage.

Well I'm just dipping my original rims and it is temporary and if u don't like it u can peel it off. Is there really harm in that? My original paint is in pretty good shape so if I was to do the whole car it would be to protect that original paint 1st and foremost. And if it looked like **** I would just peel it off.

I've used plastidip on a few things in the past and it is a lot of fun as long as you have the patience. Layering the dip in a cold environment can be slow, but if you do it right the results can be really cool. Especially when you use it to accent and highlight aspects of the car.
And it doesn't have to be considered a "quick fix" in a bad way. It's more of a flexible solution.

Just wash it like the rest of the car. Its pretty durable, not too fragile at all. I have noticed some
of it scuffed off of the rubber on the bumper ends, probably from brushing past it and hitting
them when walking around the car.
Oh and someone asked did I paint the rubber bits too, yes I did. I just masked the signal and
marker lights and the top edge from fender to fender and the plastic grill under the bumper.
Then I sprayed 2 coats really quickly and pulled the tape. Its key to pull the tape soon or it
may start ripping off the coating when its removed.

What up brotha ray. Gonna find out real soon how it makes my ugly origanal rims look. Tg u see the carbon fiber look they have come up with? This stuff is brilliant. $10 a wheel u can make whatever u can imagine.
