Craigslist Score!

So I was perusing Craigslist yesterday, and came across a posting for a set of old race wheels. The guy wanted $75 for them, so I went and looked at them this morning and bought them.

He also had a S2/S3 glass sunroof. I bought it just to put it into circulation with the rx-7 crowd, as I don't have a car with a sunroof. Look for the FS thread coming shortly

I just looked at the wheels, the brand is Hayashi. I think that the model is the Command 800 (after looking at this thread: http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/foru...opic.php?t=605 )

Nice find. I was going to say that they were Hayashi but I see you already found that out.

My car has no sunroof, so it's useless to me. I bought it to bring it into the rotary community.

You'll be the first to know if I decide to sell them. Plan is to clean them up and polish the lips, then put a coat of wax on them and try and find a 2nd FB to put them on.

Thanks man I appreciate it. Can I get a full set of specs of those please I need them so I can have the rims made for the vintage car, what am I looking for the diameter, backspacing and width.

SSR will make the old school rims for you new but they are some serious coin and you have to know all your specs

When you made contact with the seller, did he mention to you that the wheels are two different widths? I got there, and the first thing out of his mouth when he showed me the wheels was along the lines of "I didn't realize it until after we talked, but the wheels are two different widths. I hope that's not a problem".

I'll try and get you specs by the end of the day tomorrow.

Oh, on a side note: I haven't forgotten about looking through our slides at work to see if I can find archived images of all the early RX-2/RX-3/RX-7/Cosmos that we tested.

Sorry it took me so long to get back whitey... no he didn't mention the different widths for me it didn't matter so much the racers I have aren't stock anyway. I assumed that they would be different widths just because that was the way things were done. he did say that spacers would be required if mounted on a street car. If you noticed his ad it was a little misleading anyway, after all he was racing a 73 and a 74 Rx7 so I already knew something was a little screwy. After the picture and base description I recognized the rims for what they were because they are what I have been looking for.

I guess in the '80s star patterned rims were all the rage. They all look like graphics from video games from that era.

Nice find!
