clutch fan

Is there any special reasoning or meaning for the clutch fan to be on a 12A? Does that offset the balance needed for the wankel? Basically Im asking if it is safe to install electrical fans to remove the clutch fan?

I always thought the clutch just allowed more slippage at lower ambient temps then locked up tighter as things warmed up. This forced the fan to turn faster forcing more air across the engine. Their is a little metal thermastate on the front. Electric fans would do the same thing.

I've never had an electric one, but they might be adjustable temp wise. Also they will run after the engine is turned off. The Clutch fans for SA's are no longer available I think either.

Im in fort worth and just put in an e-fan couple months back. It only kicks on when im sitting at a stop light idleing for more than a minute or so. Whenever im driving enough air is getting to the engine that it doesnt need the fan on. Temp gauge always sits right on 180*

When I had my previous motor I did take off the clutch fan and put a small electric fan on through a switch, and to me it seemed like the motor revved up more freely. not a hp gain or the car being faster just revving smoother. I was just curious if anyone has heard if it will do harm to the engine if you remove the clutch fan.

Lots of people have done e-fan conversions; the clutch fan is not part of the balancing of the rotating assembly.
