A must have for sure, even the correct color for my Chateau Silver 83 LE! We need to find the Source.

Clearly you have a positive influence on people Mike, are you a Rotary God?

Speaking of which, I need to return your pilot bearing tool soon and was planning to add a little present for the courtesy of letting me use it.

As luck would have it I recently ordered 4 sets of NOS Denso plugs on ebay that were supposed to be for the 12A FB (3104 W25EDR14; top sets in the photo) but two sets turned out to be for 13B SE (3105 W27EDR14; bottom sets).

The seller was very apologetic, maybe a Rotary God himself, he told me to keep the 13B plugs and sent me 10 more of the 12A plugs, no charge.

So I need to find a good home for those two sets of Denso 13B SE plugs.

Hmmm.......

Those Denso's are sweet, aren't they Dave? Makes me wish I had an SE.

They'd be in the mail for you today if the Rotary Gods hadn't already told me to send them to Mike.

But if Mike's an NGK snob, won't touch a Denso, well we can help him out.

Ya Ray,your car was first thing i thought of when i got it, looking into possible source.
Ray,what is your definition of a "Rotary God' lol?
ND plugs are awesome, not a spark plug snob...i use NGK plugs too in my powersports business, they are oe as well as ND in a lot of products. Have used NGKs in my SE. Happen to have my last set of oe ND plugs in it now since my DFI conversion so your offer is very timely... Those, pilot bearing tool and part# for hood rod clip would be great.

Definition of a Rotary God: He to whom Rotor Heads Pray and Pay Tribute.

I finally got the TW12A stabbed on the LE transmission last night so I can return your pilot bearing tool Mike.

Thanks for the loan, it worked great.

Turns out I had a bent throw out bearing that was keeping the motor and tranny from mating up tight.

I tried for 2 days to get that last 1/4" gap to close until I finally discovered the bent bearing.

I think the bearing got bent when the throw out fork accidentally got pushed up against the transmission tunnel.

Lesson Learned: If you can't get your tranny to mate with your motor, check your throw out bearing.

Now back to making progress on the LE, it could be running in a few weeks.

I'll get your tool, the plugs and the part number for the hood rod clip in the mail tomorrow.

I'll also include the clip in case you can use it.

Let us know when you source that key ring, I need one!

Welll....i'm probably the one that needs the prayers.
Trying to envision your install scenario:engine/trans married & installing or installing engine with trans in car, jack under trans? You're breaking new ground here Ray,don't think i've ever had that occur. Were the ears visibly distorted? Throwout fork not twisted though?

I had a jack under the installed trans, just installing the engine with the tranny in place. Maybe I should have read the FSM on this first.

The ears on the bearing were fine, so was the fork, but the bearing itself was bent out of center with respect to the casing, see how the gap on each side is different in the picture:

When I lifted up the tranny with the jack to mate it with the engine hanging from the tree I must have pushed the fork up against the tranny tunnel, pushing down on the throw out bearing ears and bending the bearing casing with respect to the internal bearing.

When the engine then wouldn't mate to the tranny at first I thought it must be the wrong exedy clutch kit, however I double checked and the exedy 10025 did seem to be correct for 1983, according to RockAuto at least (they still have it listed that way).

So when I discovered the bent bearing I figured the bearing must be to blame. And the engine mated just fine after I reinstalled the original clutch set with its undamaged bearing, confirming my suspicions.

(The original clutch is in great shape, probably just a few thousands miles. I just figured it was a good opportunity to put a new clutch in, a bad decision as it turned out)

But your question got me thinking, there's no way that bent throw out bearing could keep the engine and tranny from mating!

So back to the drawing board. I did more research on the exedy 10025.

Turns out the exedy 10025 is for the SE, not the 12A. Rock Auto was wrong.

And the Rotary Gods are laughing.

Do you need a clutch set?

Ray,been away for several days and just saw your last post. This has me confused, the Exedy 10025 is the right kit for your car. The split is 79-82 then 83-88 . The difference is pre 83 cars came with 215mm flywheel, 83 & up get a 225 mm flywheel both 12A & 13B so the 10025 clutch kit is correct application,of this i'm certain. Did you put clutch & p plate taken out of car alongside new Exedy disc & p plate for comparison?
Was under impression this is an all original car, unless that kit was boxed wrong that clutch should have been correct.
I have seen incorrect t/o bearings packed in Exedy kits before, just a month ago was helping, coaching long distance another member here do his 1st ever clutch job using this same kit & he had the pilot bearing removal misery issue...got that resolved but couldn't get pilot bearing installed all the way. I had cautioned him to fit the bearing to input shaft on trans to be sure it was correct, but that important step was forgotten. Real hard to make out in phone pics but pilot bearing looked incorrect. After some more extraction issues another bearing was sourced, fit input shaft & installed in e-shaft with no problem.
Moral of story: ALWAYS match your old parts(if possible) to the new before installing.
Envision environment where these kits are being boxed and how easy for mismatched parts to be put in same box. Wrong parts in right box happens frequently in automotive business. You know about that "assume" word. Thanks for the offer on clutch kit, save it for this or another of your cars. I stepped up to a 10806 kit when replaced mine couple years ago to suit my more aggressive driving.
Was able to contact manufacturer of keyrings and have had some back and forth with him,he's not in this country. Broached the idea of a "group buy" to make prices more reasonable,he is open to this, but has no stock at current time. In his words he feels people in US distrust doing business overseas with him & would prefer to deal only with one person. Looks like that is me... I have checked him and his business out,he is legit. He also makes SA keyrings and a few other things of interest to rotor heads.
Need to see how many people here would be interested in these numbers wise to get a final price. Approx$20 apiece shipped here for a single order. 2/3 of that price for a larger order and then cost of mailing to each buyer once here. Cost of mailing to be determined in a few days as i'm mailing one of these to another member here.
So,show of hands, whose in? Will post a couple pics of other things he makes.
This may need its own thread depending on #s

Let us know how things develop with the key ring maker, I want one!

And thanks for the details on the clutch set. Yes I think you're right, the exedy 10025 should be correct for my 83 LE.

The exedy unit is a bit thicker than some of the other older clutch units I have by about a quarter inch, including the one that was installed in the LE, but I don't see how that could make a difference. It's still a mystery why I couldn't get the new exedy unit to fit but I'll hold on to it and give it a go the next time I install a clutch.

I love those bottle openers and the key rings! I'd be really interested in some pieces if this deal goes down.
