Is this car worth the money?(Searched)

I'm looking into buying my first rx7 here in a few days, I have about $2600 saved up, and I've found this 79 sa on craigslist in the same city that I live in. It's seems pretty ok heres the link, please post and let me know! Mods please feel free to move it if it's in the wrong section.

I'd say he's asking at least $1000 too much. Something I'm using as a basis for my opinion. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/1069249172.html

I would give him $1500. Rust = bad thing. Nice engine though.

You should be able to get a really good 84/85 GSL for less than $2,000. SA's in good shape maybe a little more because they are the first first gen, but I'd pay less if they are showing that extra 6 years of age. Either stock or with carefully considered mods. No rust, of course.

really, it's only worth $1500? The basis that you used is also a later model, that's far easier to find IMHO than an SA.

i guess it depends on what your ultimate goal is for the car. driver or are you going to mod it or restore it?

i sold a really really nice original SA for $2500. that one's had the crap beat out of it for 190,000 miles....

realistically 2k is a little high for that

your milage may vary, his pics are lousy.

little rust spots = no floor

needs alignment = hit ALL the curbs

etc etc

That doesn't seem like a bad deal really. I'd rock it. If it has ceramic apex seals that would be an awesome deal, but somehow I think he is stretching the truth there.

It's a terrible deal he doesn't know what he's talking about. He said his rev limiter was removed, no Fb ever has a rev limiter... He said it has a GSL-SE rear end, but the has 4x110 LE wheels. on the rear.. Bull **** all se rear ends a 4x114.5. that car is worth 1800 TOPS! 1500 on a normal day.

But it has just been rebuilt, doesn't that add to the price? The chassis has high mileage, but the motor is fresh.

I dunno, you're right though, his details are sketchy.

FWIW-I paid $2300 for my 82. It had 70000 miles and was in great condition, but needed a clutch badly. So badly that I burned it up the next day, lol. With all the aftermarket goodies on there, plus the fresh motor, plus the porting, I'd say its not a bad deal. But I'm not as well into the FB buying biz as others.

No becuase who knows what type of rebuild it was, there are many types of rebuilds. If you don't ask for new bearings some shops won't put them in, for example. You don't know if it's going to **** on you in 2 weeks unless you paid for the rebuild or did the rebuild yourself. Plus it obvious he's a drifter kid so you know that car has been beat to **** revved to 8k all day long, so I'd bet that it has tons of wear. In the pacNW you can find clean, rust free, straight FB's and SA's running and unmolested for around $1000 all the time.

spotless adn stock. you know it hasn't been molested by some Takumi wanna be...

not bad at all just needs love and with that extra $1200 yousaved you can make this thing sick..

blown coolant seal. $400 fix....

NO. Check out the link in my sig for what you can get for $800. I'd say go with the Silver or the Red car in the links provided by Hyper4mance2k. He is asking way too much for that car. STAY AWAY FROM CANCER (rust)!

just been rebuilt, 65,000 miles ago....

we did a few track/drift days in my old GSL-SE with alex pfeiffer, and since it bogs in 3rd, he just left it in second, the tach stops @8k, but you can hear the engine keep revving....

FB's can really take abuse BTW...
