Going on 4 months now in the body shop!!!! Since hurricane IKE came through Texas, the body shop I am using has been too busy and my car has been on the back burner.
With that said, the body work looks done and they are painting two different tones of primer on the car so they can block sand and see high and low spots and repair them.
I finally got my camera back, and I will go take pictures this coming week.
I have not been active on the forum lately because sometimes I forget I even own an RX-7!!! I have owned the car 4-5 months and it has been in the body shop 3-4 months!!!
Before Christmas I went to the shop to start the car because it has not been moved in almost 3 months!! The battery was COMPLETELY dead!! I hooked up a booster battery charger and within a few minutes, it was charged. I turned the key, let the carb fill with juice, pulled out the choke, pumped the accelerator a few times, and the magic began!!! Started right up without a hitch!
I will keep you informed of it's progress as new progress occurs.
I also now am restoring an old Diesel Mercedes, so I have been busy on the Mercedes Shop forum. It is a cool forum just like this one with some very knowlegeable folks..............just like here!!!!

It has been a horrible wait...but if it is done right, it will be worth it.
Went yesterday. They shot a coat of paint on it. They are in the process of block sanding it back down again. Probably will go through a couple of more episodes of shooting paint on it and then blocking to find imperfections. I expect it to be done by the end of this month.
That will make it 5 months in the body shop!!!

Man, this sure sounds familure. I took a car in for paint awhile back and it was 7 months! They told me it was done three times when it wasn't. 1st time, the side marker lights were not installed, the front bumper not aligned, spoiler not painted and the trim color was totally the wrong color. 2nd time, their were areas that were not buffed and some parts were installed wrong. The third time I just wanted it back. It was running when I got there but the tank was on super E. Once I got out of the lot it wouldn't rev out, just spurrter and backfire. I thought it might from sitting for so long or be old gas. I had to stop for fuel anyway, but guess what, it wouldn't fire back up. Battery dead. I finally got it home-but barely. It took another month of working on it along with a new battery, alternator and voltage regulator. She purrs again now. But guess what? It came home with a new dent on the cowl and I found a spot that was never wet sanded. Oh, and I had to correct to parts that were installed backwards and never fixed. I'm happy with the paint but totally fedup with what it took to get there. Unfortunately, this happens all too much today with all kinds of business's and services. And I pay good money for the privledge of being treated this way. It's just wrong. Good luck with your quest ole school.

Mines in the body shop! I did this on the Labour Day holiday in 2005!
It is having a new beaver panel put in (the one in there looks OK from the outside but is rusted badly), and half the rear quarter replaced. Also getting the antenna hole on the opposite side capped and painted. Mine went in 2 days ago and they originally said it would only take 8 or so business days which is nearly 2 weeks, so I'm not expecting it back for 2 weeks.

We worked out a deal since it is taking so long..... He needs a car to give to his nephew. I am trading an old piece of **** 85 Mercedes diesel for the paint job.
I am not really using the old benz and I am getting tired of repairing it.
Of course, I will not trade until done!!!

Car is painted!
Saw it yesterday, they have the paint on it and it looks pretty good. There are a few flaws and some more work to do. Overall looks good.
They will have to work on those flaws, put the clear coat on and put her back together!!
She is looking good though!!!

Well I was looking at the Calender. The 24th of this month it will be 7....yes SEVEN MONTHS That my black RX-7 has been in the bodyshop.
Went by there yesterday. They were painting the last touches on the body, had all the bumpers, front and rear spoiler and louvers painted.
Now they need to put the car back together. Who knows how long that will take.
Wish me luck guys.....we are pulling in hopefully for the home stretch!!!
