Most good paint jobs take 2-4 weeks. At least you should be able to pop in and check in on the car every couple days. Take pictures and document the body work and post it here

he he, yup^

It doesnt take 2-4 weeks for a paint job. It takes them 2-3 weeks to fit it in their schedule, then a few days to actually prep and paint it, if that. They tell u to leave it because that assures them ur business. If they are honest and tell u just to bring it back in 3 weeks when they can fit u in, you may end up changing ur mind or going somewhere else. From a business standpoint, thats not a gamble they want to make.

But dont get too upset, its like this almost everywhere. Its just the way they do it, so it assures them business without down time.

Once u get it back it will be worth it (seeing it doesnt take longer than they said). I pine for the day i drop mine off for a new shiny paint job

Same here, I haven't had a shop do anything on any of my cars for as long as I can remember, maybe ever....
Either way, glad to hear you are getting your SA fixed after that motorhome hit it, I'm sure it'll look good when they are done! Keep us posted.

Well I took my camera to take pictures of the progress they made.... THE ONLY progress they made was to move the car from one area of the shop to the other.
At least they do have the replacement fender, hood, and headlight door there now.
I will check back Monday or Tuesday to see what is going on!

No real update.....I went by the other day (DAY 30 in the shop)....the car STILL has not been touched!! The owner of the body shop called me about 1-2 weeks ago and said he found a new hood for the car. But he still has not started ANYTHING!!!
I am in California this week on an interview (wish me luck!!!)...anyhow when I get back home if he has not started I am going to go get my car from him. I found a guy in my town that I have known for years. He does a lot of custom work and has done a lot of classic Corvettes in my town. He said he will do it. He wants about 1/2 the cost of this other guy and said it WILL be done in 1 week!!!

I will keep you posted!!!

I think they are up to something with your car.

Actually, from what I've heard it always takes tons of time to get your car through a body shop.

Well I got news from one of my friends that they are finally starting on my car. Once I get back from California I will go down their and check it out. Hopefully now that they are starting it will finally get done soon.
As a side note I ordered some stuff from Dragon.
I got door seals, window seals, front bumper strip kit, and have replaced ALL outside emblems on the car. $400 for all that stuff!!! They are not cheap!!!

FYI, the seals from Dragon don't fit the best, i'd give it 8 out of 10 especially for the outer window seal.

Well that sucks because I bought their outer window seal. Any issues I should look for or does it just not fit well at all??

Painting does take a long time. How fast the shop gets to your car sometimes depends on the price. I just had my 1979 SA repainted in the original K3 color. The shop charged me less than normal because they were going to use it as fill-in work. They said about a month, but it took 2 months. I stopped in every week or so during the 2 months. It took about 2-3 weeks for them to start, but it turned out great!
I bought outer door window seals from Dragon. They fit, but were too short and would have let rain in. So, I bought Mazda seals from Mazdatrix. They were long enough to trim to the correct length.

Well it is day 41 and all they have done is disassemble some of the car. Sad thing is it has been in the paint shop longer than I had it! (Just bought it in early August!)
It is also sad that I dont even think about it much. Prolly why i have not been on this site in a while. I know it will be done, just don't know when!!

I will keep you guys informed!
