awesome news for the paint job

instead of doing it the el cheapo way ( was gonna experiment with spraying rustoleum through an hvlp gun with some hardner added ) my teacher didn't think he had any black left over from when they ordered alot of basic colors black white red blue etc. turns out black was the only color that they had alot of left over

its decent paint its ppg and well since I worked on alot of his personal cars including redoing the A/C in his RV with him at the beginning of school he said he'd just let me have that black paint for free all i'd need to buy would be clear

so now instead of doing shitty way i'm gonna get a good base coat and then some clear for around $40 or $50 then all i have to pay for since we used donated primer will be like tape and sandpaper =]

this is awesome
original plans were to just do a 50 dollar rustoleum job so I wasn't afraid to drive it or anything and it was all the same color lol

=]

sorry for my lame post this just made my day

Dude, that would make my day too. My girl needs a new coat of paint in a bad way, but I'm going to have to save up to have it done right.

yep we had some time getting the big *** van outta the way today to get the car in the booth but i was looking at the paint and it looked like i needed a bout another pint to be able to do the whole car so my teacher was like go see if we have any left from the metallic black from the dune buggy

so i went and looked and we had maybe half a pint of that
then he said if you want you can mix the titanium gray color left over from a car last semester in too to give it an extra kick to it

well i looked and that color looks almost like k8

**** looks crazy its just a gloss black with some metallic black and some metallic charcoal color =]

paint goes on tomorrow

Make sure after it cures you wet sand the hell out of it to get a real deep shine. Looks good so far, don't let us down on the sunlight pics.

yea we baked it this afternoon so tomorrow ive got one place ive gotta colorsand

=/ luck of the booth
that booth has never had a car come out of it completely perfect without a drip or run or anything wrong

well today we thought i'd done it without messing up at all
got the last coat of clear done and perfect

then the bad part

was walking around the booth about to put the sprayer up and idk why but somereason without thinking i opened the top of the spray gun to see how much clear was left then it happened
sure enough when i opened it idk if i hit the can with my arm or what

the liquidy clear came out of the can and got on the fresh car =///

but luckily its only bad enough im gonna have to colorsand it a little to get it out

i cant wait though

idk if im gonna do the wedsports black on the center again or if i wanna try like a gunmetal color

opinions?

Looking good. Try photoshoping the wheels in different colors, then you can decide what color looks the best.

looking good derrik. but u say it's black? don't know if it's the way the light is hitting the paint that's on the lower part of the paper that's covering the windshield but it kinda looks like a really deep blue.

no its black lol
that was the reflection probably from my shirt or depending on the picture one of them its the booth

it looks sick in the sunlight
from about 10 feet away it looks just regular shinny gloss black from about 5 you see the metallic and closer than that you can see the pearl too and its got a k8 grey tint to it up close

I you want something different, have your shop teacher put a flattening agent in the clearcoat.
