Most of us running 15×7 wheels are also running 205/55 or 205/50 series tires and they fit well in the fenders without rolling if you have the right offset. You may find that some tire manufacturers leave a considerable recessed bead for rim rash protection which helps to seat the tire a little flatter visually, which adds to tire stability on the wheel. I like Yokohama for this feature. You could go 215/50 and get a similar rolling diameter, and they'll be fine on the rear with slight rubbing on the front stabilizer bar at full lock. You might also get rubbing or close contact between the tire and strut tube, so look very closely at your fitment once tires are mounted.
Thanks. Looks like there is decent availability and pricing in 205/50R15. 215/50R15, not as much.
I ran 15" wheels on a previous 1st gen years ago. I had maxed out the width, with the tiniest amount of front spring rub at full wheel lock. Need to figure out what size those were...
Great looking wheel! I have used 225/45 -15 Hankook RS4’s front and back mounted on 15x7 wheels.
Now, what started this whole thread was me thinking that I had been running wider tires than the 205/50s that I noted having found record of in a previous post. You mention 225s and I recall 225s or 215s, but conceded to myself that they were 205s and I was just recalling incorrectly.
Guess I'll have to do some measuring when I get things back together, before buying tires. Wheel spacers could very well end up playing into the equation, also.
If you are looking for sticky tires in 15", Tire Rack is now carrying the Vitour Tempesta P1. They list all kinds of the 15" tires we were no longer able to get. They are the Extreme Summer tires, so they don't last a long time, but they are once again available and seem to be getting pretty good reviews.
Never heard of this tire brand before, so can anyone attest to the quality of Vitour Tempesta P1? I get that they're a street tire meant for the track, but I'm hesitant to install anything that could lead to a blowout due to quality and crash my car. I think 90% of our cars are performance sports cars on the street. Sacrificing safety isn't in the cards for me. Thanks to anyone who can comment,
