85 GSL-SE running on 1 rotor

My 85 GSL-SE is running extremely rough and almost like its running on 1 rotor, my uncle who is an expert on these cars and said he knows that its the, "secondary air pump under the intake manifold." but I haven't been able to find anything about one on forums and all that and I'm fairly new to rotary, I was almost thinking fuel related like injectors or clogged fuel lines/filter. Any ideas?

I would advise that you run a proper compression test with a rotary compression tester first and foremost. No need to chase your tail diagnosing a fault that isn't present. If you find that compression is acceptable, we can go from there.

I wonder if he's referring to one of the 6-port actuators?

Definitely get a proper compression test done like mazdaverx713b recommended.

I have had one lose a port. They will run on one port. Horribly. Don't assume it is major engine failure - I think mine was fouled injectors.

I always thought the 5/6 port injection didn't kick in until about ~4200 RPM and did not effect idle.

1. Do as suggested and run a compression test.
2. If a rotor is not firing, check spark. Could be a coil, ignitor, plug or wire. Easy enough to test by swapping.

Has the same issue with my GSL-SE. Obviously do a compression check. Does your RPM Gauge currently work when it is running? If not, swap the wires on the Ignitors on the distributor. Then check again if it starts/if your RPM gauge works. If not, dead igniter. Quick easy test.
