not even wax, just a liquid rubbing compound on a rag..used primarily for tiny scratch and swirl mark removal. for the age of that paint, it actually did make a difference.

Okay

It made a difference, what other plans do you have for that car? What are you going to do to it?

the plan is to fix the rust and install a drivetrain. from there i plan on working out any bugs it may have and repainting it. i'm not sure i'f i'm going to convert it to an SE drivetrain as i did with my L6 car. i guess it all depends on which engine i have that i decide to use.

i'm restoring it for myself. i don't think that i could turn a profit off a 7 thats this far gone. its coming together slowly. the lack of a good 12A is holding me up. i have one with stuck seals and its currently filled with mmo. two or three seals have unstuck so far, so i'm praying that they all unstick. all of the cars in the driveway are mine. the RX-8 has been a great car and i plan to keep it stock and enjoy it for many years.

she's a ham, lol. she wants all of the RX-7's, lol. a spitting image of her father

here's another pic of her with the GSL:

and her standing at the front of it telling me that we need to put an engine in it, lol:

and then again with my other 85 GSL that she has been helping me work on. and actually the first RX-7 that she has ever rode in.:

Looking real good Dave, I'm impressed that you are seeing this through. I have enough trouble keeping one RX-7 on the road, never mind a half dozen of them (and a Corvette, just to make it interesting).

Do you still need that red steering wheel and a few other things you were looking for before? If so pm me your current wish list, I can send the wheel and whatever else I can find laying around.

Nice work!

Loving husband, devoted father, courageous police officer, RX-7 savior / restorer -- you're right up there with our good friend Stu Aull in my book as a strong candidate for next Dos Equis' "Most Interesting Man in the World"

Way to stick with it Dave. Your work and commitment are always instructive as they are inspiring.

thank you for the kind words!! i try to be the best dad i can be to my kids. we are expecting our third child (and last with any luck, lol) in april and the kids have changed the way i look at the world. my daughter is just like me..not sure yet if thats good or bad but it melts me my dad was never there for me when i was growing up and broke nearly every promise he made to me..so i try my best to make sure i'm a good dad to my kids..of course i was in the bathroom today and my daughter came to the door, knocked and asked "daddy, are you taking a big ****"? i was near in tears trying to hold in the laughter. i have only myself to blame for that, lol.

as far as interesting..maybe not so much, lol. but perhaps to another 7 enthusiest..to my wife..well, she thinks i should be committed to an asylum for my car addiction. i sold my Corvette and she was not understanding because i would not sell a 7..not even the ratty one in these pics, lol.
