84 FB Power Window Question
84 FB Power Window Question
I was just given a tongue lashing by someone about my posting habits. I thought my question was a 'Build Question' so that's where I posted it.
Apparently this question is a 'Tech Question'; but, in my ignorance, I don't see a 1st gen. 'Tech. Forum'. A link with the browbeat would have been helpful.
I apologize for my lack of clarity on how all this works. Please don't close my threads..show me where I should post.
That being said, I hope this is the right spot because here it goes...
I've got an 84 FB that is wired for power windows and doors, but the doors on the car are manual crank/lock.
The car came with door panel covers for power window/doors, and power window motors.
Assuming the motors check out, can the existing manual crank window slides be removed and replaced with the power window tracks?
Are the mount holes in the door and on the tracks the same?

The reason I warned you and closed your thread is because I have directed you multiple times to use the 1st Gen Technical section for technical related questions and people keep reporting your posts to the mod team. If we do not act appropriately, we are not doing our job as moderators or admin.
The Builds section is for ongoing threads about restorations or builds that don't typically contain tech questions. Its more of a hey here's the progress on the car I'm building/restoring. Here is a link to the tech section: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...-1979-1985-18/

When I click your link I see four options pop on the screen; the same four 1st gen options I always see.
Are you saying DON'T chose any of the four, and that I should just 'Start a New Thread' at that point and that will place it in 'Tech' section?

Are you maybe on a phone? Until you get to know the layout better, try using a full sized screen on a PC/Mac/Chromebook with a standard web browser like Chrome.
Here's what mazdaverx713b's link brings you to and I've highlighted some areas. The red box I added highlights the forum you're presently viewing, see the word 'technical' in the description. If you look below, see the two small red boxes I added to show you the area for sticky (always at the top) and normal threads, aka topics.
The blue box contains the 4 items that you always see and those are sub forums.
So if it's technical like "will 20mm offset in 15x7 wheels fit on my 84 FB and not rub?", post in the technical section. If it's general like "Do you guys think these wheels look good?" then post in general.
But *before* you post, use Google or the forum search and do some research. People like to help but it's frustrating when the poster doesn't put in the work. I've shown you a couple of different ways to search in the past...specifically a Google search example limited to the RX7Club's 1st gen sections (the red box and blue box forums in the screenshot). Using that method I had pretty quickly found good information about power vs. crank window regulators. I posted that but you didn't seem to follow up, instead posting a new question about the color of your dashboard. That kind of drives people crazy.
You can also explore the physical world and measure that stuff yourself, and then contribute back to the forum, in a detailed manner...it's part the "social contract" here. You get help, you help where you can, and you post results of your work.

IF you don't choose any of the four sub forums (in Torikui's blue box) and just click on the 'New Thread' button at that point, your post will be placed in the 'Tech' section.
Computers are hard. You will get there with practice.

You are now in the 1st Gen Tech Section. You can skip right past those 4 sub-forums (General Discussion, Build Threads, Archive and Group Buy) by just scrolling past them. There is a "Post New Thread" bar to ask your questions, and below that are the announcements and stickies, and below that are thousands of Tech threads. That's where your new thread will post. Forget about those 4 sub-forums, just put all your threads and questions in this general tech section.

Also, if you are using your phone and are using Google Chrome on your phone, make sure you change the layout to desktop site by clicking the desktop site box in the Chrome drop down menu. It really helps for forum navigation.
