This is a nice early 79 that looks very original. A few of these surfacing lately. One note, This is the 2nd 78 build car that I've seen with this radio and cassette deck combo. Seems that like the passenger side door mirror 78's could come with or with out these items. I know of at least two other early build copper cars with the same interior combination, those others had the storage bin instead of the tape deck.

This one also has the "always on" air conditing control **** that Stu enlightened me on not long ago. She looks very restorable but priced a tad high for right now in my opinion. Good oppurtunity for someone so inclined. Thanks for posting it up here!

Too bad it has a passenger mirror. Interesting color combo on the inside. Nice shape though minus the carpet and fender. Is that arm rest original?

Only an SA owner says it.

Don't think I have seen that tape setup before, but I have seen that interior.

actually the luggage bar is something that was in the orig accessories brochure so even though RE may have been the manuf it is considered dealer equip just like the glass roofs and a few other things as well.

The radio tape deck are OE the #88 car has the same ones and i have collected a few others there is another version that is used on the LE/LS and anniversary models

The built up arm rest in the center is not OE or dealer as i can recall but i have seen a couple that are the same it may have been a piece that was aftermarket and advertised in the rotary rocket.

All told this car seems very original including the passenger side mirror, the build date is around the time that these changes were made.

And yes it would take a true SA lover to appreciate having a car with only one mirror

the 80 m/y started with vin # SA22C- 568501 which would have been early july 1979.

mirror is a little harder to say, as the passenger door changes part numbers twice, once obviously for the mirror, the other?

the first change is car SA22C- 525594, which is probably the mirror. 525594 is the first car in 11/78

second is car SA22C-612590 which might be the hole for the door wiring harness for the power mirrors? 612590 is june of 1980.

all this is in the parts fische...

I have been kicking around whether to keep my passenger mirror,

My 3/78 #1140 has the side mirror. After tracking down the original owner, he took the car back into the dealership and had them install the mirror after noticing the later 79 came equipped. Mine is 100% bone stock (dealer only serviced with all records for 28 years) which is nice and was found in Las Vegas also back in May.

You probably have two mounting holes in you door skin now. If you want to remove it for orginality sake, I suppose you could use a couple rubber or plastic hole plugs like what's used after rustproofing. You could even paint them so they didn't stick out on your car like pimples on your forehead.

You have a Sparks car? Those are popular on here, you should post up some pics if you got em. We like to see the cars that are still running around out there, especially early or rare ones.

The right front fender damage, just ahead of the door seam, says to me that door was over-rotated at one time (caught by wind or hit in a parking lot, or something.)

Yet the door shows no damage.

Probably that door was replaced, possibly with a door from an 80, and that's when the car gained the second outside mirror.

Of course, deduction alone proves nothing; it merely tells you where to look for proof.
