I don't think anybody would laugh at you if you paid $400....certainly less would be better (for you).

im thinking on offering him $250. that'd be a steal for me, and I doubt he'll do anything with it, other than let it sit for 20 more years maybe.

Keep this in mind,
Things are "worth" only what somebody else is willing to pay. I had a friend who sold a beanie baby (10+ yrs ago) for like $250! Does that mean it's worth $250 today? Good luck with that.....

Offer him the $250....he might laugh in your face....if he does you can decide to offer more or walk away....depends on what it's worth to you and what it's worth to him.

I offered him $250 and he laughed and said he had $600 in it. Then he said he would sell me just the intake mani for $100. A webber carb (45dcoe) brand new is $400 and the new ones come with solid floats. I think im going to pick up the intake mani though, what do you guys think?

I would explain to him that he is never going to get the 600.00 back out of it and offer him 350.00. If he still balks, walk.

The best way to get good deals is to be willing to walk away, you never know, he may look you up later when he needs some money.

Man if I could get all the money out that I put into a car, I'd be rich!

Why do people always think they can get more than 50% of the new price for
used parts?

BTW, 50% of new cost is the highest I will go on anything. Just a rule of
thumb I use when buying used anything.

Show your pal this F/S thread from the 1st Gen classifieds...

$200!

Now THAT'S a great deal!

Perhaps your buddy may soften his stance....$250/$300 might look like a better deal to him now....considering the economic times.

i decided against it anyway, the only reason i wanted it was the ease of boost preping the webber. i just found yesturday somone that has preped a nikki and is willing to do mine for a fee. Im going that route instead and yeah, he'll never get anywhere near $600 for it. Me and him are the only two rotary guys i know/have seen around where i live, and our cars (his truck) arent even on the road yet lol
