"2009 1st Gen RX7 Calendars! 100 Avail. Ready to ship ASAP."

Hello everyone -

First, let me give you a rundown on who I am. My name is Chris Glog, I drive a 84 GS which has become my baby in the past few months. Before even registering the car, I started tearing into it, and by that I mean I stripped the body and gave her a reshoot in a burnt orange color from a Land Rover. I am currently attending college for print media which is exactly what it sounds like. I am going to college to learn better print techniques and catch up with todays digital print forms.

With that said, let me get to the point of this topic. Note to mods/admins: This topics creation has been approved by an admin.

I was reading in the 'Car of the month' thread where an idea of a calendar was proposed. I was given a link to other theads started where people never finished the product. Well, I don't plan on giving up hopes on this for us SA/FB owners.

I have already been in contact with 3 or so major board members, including both owners and a supermod. Thanks to them, this project is becoming more and more together than I thought it would for 2 days of talking.

I talked to my printer (of whom I used to work for) to get a quote on calendars. I had him give me a quote for 50, 100 and 200. I will let you know a price when all things are figured out. There is no price in this topic yet for those who are just looking for it. Haha.

The basic calendar is going to be 11"wX17"l. There will most likely be 7 sheets used, making a 14 page total, including the cover.

Before I ask advertisers if they would like to spread the word of their business on this calendar, I would like to get them some statistics. The main stat being how many people are interested. I have two different ways of advertising that I need input on: 1. Ads on the back page or 2. A certain company gets a specific month. This will result in lower calendar costs to members. Should I include one of those options?

Picture submittal will be critical here. As of right now, I am not going to be asking for pictures. This is a gauging interest thread only. If this is highly wanted, I will be making a post regarding images and picture submissions. So start looking now, you never know if yours will be chosen!

After the images get narrowed down to 20 or so, I will make another thread with those 20 pictures in it along with a poll. I do not want to be blamed for choosing the wrong car, nor do I want people mad at me for not choosing their car. There are many things involved with images, not just that they look good. I need high-res images, preferably 300dpi if you have one!

So thats about it for now. What does everyone think?

Oh yeah, if I were to get it created very soon, should I make it 2008 or 2009?

Thanks and if you have any questions, please post or email me: chris @ shoandgo.com

Chris Glog.

Wooo 1st vote! I love the idea. I sure as hell would buy one. I like waiting for 2009. This gives plenty of time to wade thru the details and get plenty of pictures. I would love to see this be a yearly thing. Maybe even tie it in with the SA/FB of the month? It could be SA/FB of the month gets that month? That's only if that happens also though. I wouldn't really want a company for a month so the very back would suffice for me. Don't let us down!

Love the idea, shouldn't be too hard to find the cars to be in it. Hope this idea can be carried out!

What?! This is truly awesome... I would definitely pick one of these up. I have no opinion to give on the advertising, though.

Gauging Interest: 2008/9 SA/FB Calendar.

This is a direct post from the 1st generation forum. I am required to repost in here

Here is the link to the first gen topic: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=722532

Depending on how the first generation goes over, 2009 might be a year for 2gs and 3gs.

I'd buy one !. I get a calender every year , a first gen one would be even better. I'd suggest get it ready for 2009 but availble in october with 13 months ( ie december 08 as well .

Jus a suggestion to help decide , maybe pick the featured sevens from the registered birth months of first gen owners.

As I mentioned before I would be very interested! Unfortunately though since the last thread was locked in the first gen non tech section alot of people thought the RX7club mod hammer laid down the law.

Well, since I got NO explanation to why the thread was locked and I had PERMISSION to post it, I doubt I will be able to spread the word around now.

I will be keeping a blog going on the progress on my site - http://shoandgo.com/blog

I will also be updating here.

I have to get an explanation as to why that thread was closed first.

This is why we never have a calendar made. It is too much of a hassle to start. Wow.

I'm game.
Make the calendar for whatever months might be left when its ready to print and then for another twelve months of 2009.
Also make it big enough, so it wont be overshadowed by the chick/tool calendars in my shop.
