Interior pics

thanks Jibaro there kinda growing on me, still want OEM ones tho.

Heres a few pics of my interior I redid black, the top of the driver door panel was pretty bad so half assed a cover out of an old sweater I never wear anymore ( note the seam in the middle lol). Pretty much just took out the padding and glues the cut up sweater to it and then reglued the pad back to the door.

I had to do the outside, mine were fogged up pretty bad on the inside. I just like the OEM ones for some reason, there the original Altezza lights kinda just without the round lights. That just what they remind me of kinda lol.

To answer your question on the previous page (about the light in the gauge by the temp and fuel gauges) I think it is the rear window defogger light to let you know that you have it switched on. I believe there's another one similar looking on the speedometer which is lit when you flash your high beams or have your high beams on.

Keep up the phenomenal work!

Ahhh so thats what it is, yeah my defroster doesnt work so light never came on since ive had it. Thanks boyee, thought it might be low fuel light cause its right by gas gauge ><.

A big pile of happy!!!

Finnaly have something to update, got the last susspension piece I was waiting on and got to steppin this morning with ripping parts off the ole girl. I dont think the neihbors were all to pleased to hear my compresor going at 8am this morning but ehh I was riding the suspension pony high ( Ive been sitting on some of these parts for a while and was extreamly anxious to get them in and test her out lol).

Eveerything went pretty smoothly coming out, was a little woried about some of the bolts being so rusty but ive been spraying them with pb blaster every couple days for the last 2 weeks. I wish I had the money for the Illumina/respeed coilover setup but with needing other things fixed on the ole girl I had to go with the Tokiko Blue HP from respeed, racing beat springs from Mazdatrix and camber plates from respeed. Ill just save up and swap to coilovers/illuminas when I go to the 4x114 pattern for my Enkei 92's.

Everything went back together just as easy as it came apart, took me about 5 hours in all but I was cleaning/treating rust issues as I went aswell. Didnt get around to doing my lower control arm bushings, figured it would be easier on the lift at work so just gonna wait untill tommorow and knock those out with my balljoints before I do my allignment. It doesnt need much, was able to eye it really close and there wasnt any pulls or hard steering on test drive but steering wheel is a bit cockeyed. It handled great on the 1st drive, still needs to settle a bit but its a 100 times better then it was. Feels alot like my old civic did on Eibach sport lines and Koni's, so Im pretty pleased and cant wait to see what its like when I get the respeed swaybar in and finish up the poly bushings all around.

Next up as soon as I get some fittings and new lines im going to install my Holly Blue fuel pump and low pressure regulator. And if anyone out there could post up a pic of how they have theres mounted I would apreciate it, mostly wondering how yall bolted them on. And since im redoing the lines anyway do yall think I should upgrade and get slightly bigger hard lines? Thanks In advance guys and on to the pics.

Carb adjusted, tie rods and ball joints in oh my

Alright its crunch time this week, ive got to make a 1400 mile round trip this week and I leave thursday morning. Spent today trying to cover all my bases, repacked my wheel bearings, installed new tie rod ends and ball joints, got my FPR and gauge mounted and went thru Sterlings write up on tuning my nikki carb.

Everything went smoothly with the exception of tuning my carb lol, followed Sterlings 10 steps but the adjustments wernt doing what they were supposed to which confused me a bit. Turning my IFA in which should have raised my rpm since it was leaning it out but instead it was lowering the idle. Right now I have it at about 2 1/4 turns out and idleing at about 650-700 and it feels like its got better acceleration from a stop but I have no clue if its too lean or rich or if theres a hidden issue I havent found yet. It is smelling better exhaust wise and I got 85 miles out of the tank b4 the needle moved, normaly starts to move right at 45-50 miles so im deffinately getting better milage. Im leaning towards a hidden issue since I followed SMW's steps to a T for my 83 carb with just the 1 needle adjustment and the throtle stop. Going to try and trouble shoot it tommorow at work but any ideas would be a big help.

Well heres some pics, also redid my armrest and driver side door panel top (the padded part) in some pleather I got the fabric store next door to the shop I work at to hook me up with for free.

Success

Started messing around with my carb again today, well did alot more than just that lol. I started with the MMO treatment, pulled my top plugs squirted it in the holes, didnt really measure it out but I put quite a bit in reinstalled plugs and turned it a few times and let it sit. Went on to start on the rest of what I had to do thermostat/gasket, bleed and flush the brake and clutch system, clean and adjust my rear drums ( cant wait to get my 85 disc/lsd rearend in), Change the oil/filter (4qts castrol 20/50 and 1qt lucas oil stabilizer) and mount 2 rear tires for the trip tommorow.

Pretty much did a job and turned the motor over by hand both directions a few times and moved on to the next job. It took me about 4 hrs to finish up everything but the oil change, and pulled the bottom plugs and turned the engine over counter clockwise to push the MMO out. It deffinately cleaned some crap out, what came out was pretty nasty and black, not the red that went in. Flushed it out with 2 stroke untill it wasnt black anymore, took 4 times and decided to try the poor man comp test and got 3 real good puffs out of each. Put the other plugs back in ( forgot to mention used an old set of plugs for this) did my oil change and fired her up lol. Boy did she smoke, the entire shop and uncle julios parking lot and about a steady thick mile long trail when I took it around the block. It smoked for a while and after I wasnt to bad and warmed up good I hit red line a few times and cleaned the rest out and shes running better than ever and not as much engine noise at idle just all around smoother.

Got her back to the shop and messed with the carb a bit, my IFA is 2 turns out maybe a little less but not much and shes idleing at a steady 600. Filled up the tank and drove out to Garland and back (Rotary Performance) which was a 75 mile round trip exactly once I got back to the gas station I filled it up at. Filled it up again and it took 3.5 gallons which is 21.4 with id say 90 percent of the 75 miles were 70-90mph on the tollway the rest being city stop and go, I can live with that for now. So id say today was a success and im 100% ready for my first road trip in the ole girl.

I have my box o parts in the back to for just in cases lol, spare plugs, box o fuses, spare ignitor, extra bulbs, thermostat I took out today cause it was still good just didnt know how old it was, old rad hoses I took off still good just didnt know how old, extra gas line, extra belts and assorted fluids. Also bought a fullsize spare so I have 2 spares now including the donut. Was actualy able to fit all of that in one storage bin with my tool bag and air pump. Outside of catastrophic engine or transmission failure im ready for anything lol.

Well I leave tommorow morning, hopefully I find some fun roads to hit along the way and get some good pics/vids. Wish me an the ole girl luck guys and gals.

Wow, been a while since I updated my build thread lol. Havent done a whole lot, but thats kinda a good thing cause she hasnt given me any troubles that need to be fixed. Shes running great and about to take her on another road trip up to Nebraska at the end of September.

I have done a few things to the ole girl tho, suspension technique rear adjustable swaybar, roadrace header, some new gauges to better monitor things and a rebuilt master.

The rear sway bar made a huge differance in the corners even with me still running the stock one up front. It cleaned up hmmm id ay 95% of my rearend bounce from the new springs. And the header made just as much differance to the 12a under the hood, totalt changed the feel of the powerband. In the upper RPM's around 6k when I used to start feeling a loss of power it feels like it does when my mech secondaries kick in. Only complaint is it got very loud in the lower RPM range, made the rest from the header back and running 1 RB presilencer to a no name muffler. Ive put headers on cars before and never has it made that much differance in sound or power for that matter, ill get the rest of the roadrace system soon but need money for other things at the moment.

One of those things being a new modified Nikki yeaaahhh To be more precise ive sent a core carb I picked up to the guys over at SRMotosports in Florida to work some magic on. Been talking to Rich and Tom for a few weeks now and they seem like really cool people, would deffinately chill and drink down some beers with em. Heres a link to there site http://srraceengineering.webs.com/. There going to be building me one of there SR Nikkis and cant wait to get it on and give some feed back to them and yall, since there gonna be trying to fill some big shoes left by Sterlling ( please no Sterlling bashing in my thread, everyone falls on hard times eventually and he did a great service to this community giving a killer product for a great price and hope he can find a way to make it work for him again dont forget he did this in his free time and held another fulltime job). Im going to be getting before and after dyno runs in and im going to post the results and send them to Rich and Tom (cobrastngsvt). So stay tuned anyone looking to get there nikki modded^^

Im gonna post some vid/sound of my girl with the new header tommorow so check back for that to lol. And then..... on to the pics lol

Alright did a little work on the ole girl today, video isnt that great but pretty much sounds like it does in the vid. Also decided to put one of my old seats from another car I had in and see how it fit, pretty well actually. Puts me about 1-1.5 inches lower which was just about what I needed. With my helmet on I was having to scrunch down in the stock seat to sit all the way back lol.

That humming is my fuel pump, dont know why its so loud, saving up to replace it with a mallory And like I was saying the rest of the exhaust is going to get replaced with the rest of the roadrace setup.

Thanks boyee, trying to get the cash sat aside for it but buisness is way slow at the shop (mechanic) and not getting the flag hours im used to But it will give me time to do the RX-7 up right and maybe even sand it down and get a fresh coat of maya gold, finish exhaust ect.

Heres a couple pics of recent things done to the ole girl. The underhood area was stained real bad so taped off the edge and painted it a satin black. Also took that top peice off infront of the radiator, cleaned the rust off and painted that to. Nothing to big but I love poppin the hood that much more now

NY Backing Plate

If you were changeing to disc brakes with the new axles I'd be interested in buying the driver's side backing plate if you've made the swap.

Yeah im single and no kiddos so all my money pretty much goes into my RX-7 and beer lol. Not to mention I work at an automotive shop so anytime were slow I have my car in the shop doing something to it. Soooo much easier to get stuff done when you can just lift the whole car off the ground^^

Well I lucked my happy **** into some ROH Snypers for $100 today

There 15x7's and no clue yet on offset, havent cleaned them yet and cant read all the numbers on them. But was able to make out "Made In Australia" "15x7J" and "ROH SNYPER". Ive been wanting a set of these for awhile now to, now ive got 2 out of the 3 sets of wheels I always liked best on 1st gens. All I need now is a set of Panasports for the track and keep my Enki 92's and ROH Snypers for the street. Cant wait to get em refinished and some rubber slaped on lol.

Success!!!!

Finnaly got around to getting my cs130 alt installed, pretty much just followed bigerns write up in here. It was one I took off a chevy truck at work that didnt need a core so tossed it in the bottom of my cart and rebuilt it. Only thing I did different was cut the big ear down with a cut off wheel and used the threaded end at the aduster. Works great, I can turn everything in my car on and if it has the option on high with my hazards on, aux lights, wipers, heater, head lights etc and step on the brakes and it holds steady just above 14v on my gauge and 14.78 on my multimeter at idle. Next up are the 2 12" E-fans I have sitting in my garage
