Dustin, the cars look good as usual. Maybe next year I can get to Zoom Fest with a car or two. It's definetly on my to do list. Did you ever decide if you were going to part with some of your stereo gear or get an update on the chassis in that boneyard out your way?

Hi Stu. Talked with you about 8 years ago about 79 limiteds and getting one to seven stock...remember? How's life in Alaska? Ever buy that one stuck in a snowbank? PS Don't worry, I kept all the original or duplicate parts in case I ever want to go back. Only semi permanent thing I have done is drill the holes for the wing but that can be fixed too just at greater expense.

Bonzai, can you email me at nitsud@ix.netcom.com?
I am happy to part with limited gear as long as it goes to someone who owns one. And, I am in fact hoping to see that limited tomorrow. email me your email address and I will let you know what I find.

color diff and pins

one has 30 year old paint and the other's (the modded one) is about five years old. The new paint was sikkens and is just a shade off. Wasn't happy when I saw the cars next to each other but even modern paint matching isn't always exactly correct. went with the correct lim. paint code and everything. Oh well. still looks pretty good even if a shade off. Had the original painstripes reproduced--i call them painstripes because of how much it cost--both money and a year of time to get them exactly correct via a guy who does cad work. Even matched the colors I'd say about perfectly. They have a special "half arrow tip" end on the lower bergundy and the silver dead ends into the curve of the tip. they taper from front all the way to the back. the silver upper ends up about 1/8" thick and the lower bergundy ends up about 1/4" thick. There is a gap in the stripes right above the middle screw hole on the taillights that I have verified on two other limiteds--I believe it to be an indexing mark for the installer. Took about five years to track down at least two other lim owners and get them to take high res closeups of their pins at every gap, door opening, etc. with measurements. my orig. lim. only has the correct pin end on the driver side--the pass side is wrong due to wreck prior to me owning her. thanks for the nice comments. I appreciate it. anybody know how to get ahold of rotarydude? thanks.

I like the original one, can't say I agree with the path you took on the modded one. It did look better in person at Zoom Fest though.

Ahh yes - recall you were thinking of putting one is a museum? My Ltd-in-the-mountains never panned out, got towed before I could return
Just have to do with the spare Ltd parted out in my Parts Shed...

Glad to hear you didn't burn any bridges back to stock on the modded version. If you went to all that trouble to get your pinstripes cad-designed and cut, pass along the layout to other Ltd Owners - I'll bet Banzai would like to get ahold of a set of OEM-style pinstripes...

You and the 'dude aren't the only 2-fer Ltd owners BTW - Banzai has a pair now too.

Actually Stu, I would. I did read that part with interest. I know exactly what is meant by the half arrow on the front fender, but the "indexing gap" above the middle tail light screw is a blank to me. I'll have to recheck that when i get the chance.

I would also be interested in the pin striping linfo . My new E6 paint job two years ago is without the stripes and would like to look into getting them done right

I now have a full set of side moldings from my aurora white SA parts car ( project ) that are going back on the Limited

haven't decided . I was thinking of seeing if shineauto products would be interested in getting it and making FRP mold to sell on the forum , and maybe I could get a free one out of it . Then maybe put it back on the Limited . Its in three pieces but could be repaired with a little fiberglass skills .

It won't be going on my new T2 project car . I have a different look planned for the front end /bumpers for that .

Hers a link to the shineauto site thread to try and get interest generated
