Doing a rebuild on a 1982 12A engine. I have the motor fully taken apart. The first housing has chrome damage, as well as small cracking around the spark holes(see pictures) and although I am not incredibly knowledgeable, my current understanding is I will need to have this housing re-chromed or just purchase a new housing. Concerning the first option, I'm wondering if anybody is aware of someone who re-chromes 12A housings, and how much something like that would cost...

Same , can't see pics unfortunately . But based on your description the housing is toast ; toss it into the recycling and find a better used one ( as new are impossible to find ).
