12A Cooling, All Hoses. Mazda Still Making Them?

Hi Folks,

I want to replace all of the rubber coolant hoes under the hood and I think I've got it right that there are 7 of them? I haven't found a diagram that shows them all and I've been leaning over the engine bay with a flashlight.

Lower Hose Mazda Part: N231-15-511
Upper Hose Mazda Part: N231-15-521C
Hose Water Mazda Part: 8871-61-212
Hose Water Mazda Part: FA42-61-213A
Hose Water Heater Mazda Part: N231-15-550
Hose Water Mazda Part: N231-15-530A
Hose Water Mazda Part: N231-15-540B

Any opinions on dealer availability for these?

I just bought them all from Mazdatrix. Didn't check your #'s above, but I got...
*Both large hoses (WP to radiator)
*The small one off lower radiator (feeds metal pipe to firewall)
*Both thin ones in & out of heater core (connecting back to left side of block).

I am doing away with the beehive but if you have it there's another hose off the end of the metal pipe. Mazdatrix and Atkins have these so I'm sure they're still available from Mazda.

I do have the beehive, just keeping everything stock. Thanks for the reality check on the locations.

I read an older post from forum member j9fd3s that he had an SA with all the OEM hoses and he changed it out in 2007. The rubber was hard but still had plenty of life in it. He noted that some manufacturer's hoses go soft, some go hard and that the OEM Mazda are really good.

the last hoses i bought were being made in Thailand, Mazda has a factory to make parts there, so they are still being made.

the hoses are kind of a pain, there are the the radiator hoses in the cooling system section (1500) and the heater hoses in the heater section (6100) but the oil cooler hoses are somewhere else, maybe the oil system? they are listed by function and not all together.

i just checked, Mazda USA has tons of all of those. i think you have all the hoses too, upper and lower radiator, 3 heater hoses, and two oil cooler hoses.

Just make sure you really flush the beehive coolant line. Mine was pretty filled with crap. Oddly, it was the only part of the cooling system that was obstructed.

Excellent, thanks for all of the confirmation (j9 I was hoping you'd chime in on that) and also Ck for the pro tip on the beehive. This will be fun, or maybe it will be "fun".

Following forum notes on coolant flushing, I think the block drain
is here, in red. But what are the green and blue circled items?

Green is where the oil cooler hose would go if it didn't have the beehive, its just a plug
Blue is a tension bolt that holds the engine together

On the 12A with the beehive, the two large banko bolts are not used for the oil cooler line. The oil cooler is fed from the front cover and runs directly to the back of the beehive oil cooler via a long molded steel line.

yes, either the steel line connecting to the front cover, or a braided line from a front mount cooler. he has neither. in the pic, looks like a steel tube coming off the front cover but can't tell where it goes.

His 12A looks just like mine in his pic. Beehive has 2 oil inlets: The metal hose off the front cover (can be seen in his pic: lower left) and the base of the Beehive which I assume is fed from the perch below it. No lines down to the rear oil plug.

if it had a FMOC like an earlier car or an -SE then the cooler gets fed from the same port on front cover, and then the plug shown in his pic at lower rear of block.

Yep, that wiggles up and back to the Beehive. The only other hoses I can see are coolant lines. So many coolant lines that it's hard to get to the temp and oil pressure sensors under them. I won't miss the Beehive when it's gone.
