That's a really clean FB. Wish I could get away with no AC, but here in Texas, it's a necessity.

@Normjet very nice. Did you import that from the UK? It has the urethane spoiler, UK style stereo, square mirrors and FC style indicator lens on the front guards next to the RX-7 logo badge.I understood NZ delivered cars to be more similar to Australian cars in appearance (rounded mirrors, side indicators in the black body protector mould forward of the wheel).

Good spotting, Yes it is an import from the UK. I also believe the ports are bigger almost like a stage 2 on these models ?

Awesome. I love the look of the UK model. They came in different colours, like yours which is the very rare L6 paint code (Ocean Blue / Rhyl Blue) We can't import them here unfortunately.

Yes, the UK 12A on the series 3 is the same as the Aus-spec ones. They have very tall primary ports. In factory guise, they don't really make any more power, but they have more potential when you open the exhaust and modify the carburettor. I managed to get 120rwhp out of a stock s3 12A engine at 8000rpm (Dyno Dynamics figure), which is excellent. It actually made more power than my s5 13B turbo block running a modified Nikki carburettor (no turbo).

Oh right cool, yea it doesn’t seem anymore powerful than others I have driven, interesting that it has extractors on it but they are very small, I’ll post up pics of the engine bay when I can but it definitely needs to breath more

What fuelpump and exhaust did you run to manage this rwhp Greg?

At the time it was factory fuel pump, basic mild steel extractors to firewall, merging into single 2.5" mild steel pipe with two straight through resonators and final 2.5" straight through Magnaflow muffler. I had a electric cooling fan and Davies Craig EWP as well. I think these 2 mods would have been worth 5-10rwhp.

I have a video somewhere. It was done in 2002/2003.

After this run, I had the carburettor extensively modified with larger chokes, mechanical secondaries, rejetted and a number of other modifications, which definitely increased power further.
