***To MOD or not to MOD... that is the question...***
If you had a 1985 GSLSE in perfect shape, with 80k original miles on it, stock interior in perfect shape, no rust, pretty decent original paint and 100% stock engine... no mods what so ever...
would you leave it stock or would you do some mods... WHY???
if you say you want to do some mods which mods would you do? and WHY?

Beautiful car!
As far as mods go, I would say it depends on what you do with the car, and how much you want to enjoy it. I would do anything that allows me to enjoy the car more.
I have a low km Silver - SE aswell, but i quickly lost interest in keeping it stock. It now has a huge list of mods. Since i dont plan i ever selling the car, atleast i knew i had a great base to start from.

I do not drive it much. i have it just to have it because back in the days that was the car that I wanted but never got to it for one reason or another... After some research I found this one. Im in FL but the car was in Nevada. So I went there to see it and bought it. Shipped it to my house and i have it since...
I am keeping this car for sure. it is like a trophy.
My daily driver is an 06 Mazda 3 SP and my other toy is a 350Z roadster... That one I made some mods to... like Veilside body kit, 20 inch wheels, exhaust, intake new interior and some other stuff...
so back to the question.... to mod or not to mod...

please click: http://www.radiodeejay.hr/forum/lang/inexed.htm Hope that it was not you who put the "Rotary Engline" sticker on the rear quarter window. That should be the first to go.

I would leave a gem like that stock and buy one thats not as nice and mod the crap out of it. It doesnt make sense to tear up a great car like that when you can buy one with faded paint and with a few more miles for <1500$! As someone else noted mods like suspension upgrade and RB exhaust are about as far as I would go just to get more enjoyment out of driving the car..

If you do, make everything reversible and keep the old parts!
I only have a blaster coil, k&N drop in, and a RB test pipe. Kept everything that was stock.

When I bought my second FB, it was from a guy's car collection. It was on display in a showroom - absolutely spotless. It was only driven from June to September, then stored in a heated garage. I was planning to keep it stock...but, well just look at my sig.

I would say leave it alone. I modded mine, it was high milage but clean and I kind of regret it.
Some rims and easily reservable mods maybe. An RB Exhaust maybe.
If you are looking to sell I am not opposed to a low milage clean original.

I am NOT planning on selling it.
I drive it every now and then.
I got the race on usa body kit a while back. it is still on the box... I will sell it because I will not install it on my car.
I cannot buy another one to mod. I already have the 350ZR and I also have my daily driver; an 05 Mazda 3 hatchback.
The exhaust... yeah, Im going to go with the racing beat. just want to add that special rotary sound to it...
Lower it and I think that would be it....

Well, if you don't intend to ever sell it, then the choice is obviously up to you. What do you like? Will you be happy with it as is, or will you want better performance?
I am not opposed to any mod, as long as it fits into at least one of these categories:
1. Reliability improvement.
2. Performance improvement.
3. Safety improvement.
Basically, if it is going to make the car better then I'll go for it. But, like you, I never plan on parting with her. She had nearly 180,000 miles on her when I picked her up, and wasn't very well cared for. But every nut or bolt that comes off gets a thorough cleaning or replacement before it goes back on. Every part that comes off, or goes on, gets cleaned and painted (if applicable). She is slowly turning into a young car again, and is better built and better performing than the original version of the car when it was new.
My sons will drive this car in another decade, and it will probably be the family race project for years to come. In my opinion, the only reason to keep one original is for resale value or if you just want to do it that way. Plain and simple... Very nice cars by the way.

Well...no I couldn't. It started with replacing the exhaust system with a header, than the suspension. When I was able to actually enjoy the handling of the car instead of white-knuckling it, than other performance upgrades came to mind. Last year, the odometer turned over 200k and I wanted a rebuild so that reliability wasn't an issue, as I take it for some long trips/cruises. With it apart, I decided to go with a port job. Then I found a great deal on a new Weber carb, and so on, and so on.
