And here is a overall pic of the engine bay. Not too much left to do before I get to turn the key Haltech is 99% wired in (need to hook up a thermo fan), fuel system is done, exhaust is done and I/C tubing is done. Just need to make oil lines, make spark plug wires, get a set of spark plugs, get a BOV and get a electric fan then I'm done!! I can't wait to fire it up!

Look'n nice..... when do you think you'll be turning the key, and how long as the whole project taken?

I wish I had a digital camera that was worth anything. I'm going to get the tranny in today, now that I've got the engine bay cleaned and painted. The engine should join the tranny sometime next week. Still a good 4-6 weeks out though before I'll be doing any key turning.

As far as plugs, I'm going to make a bracket that holds both coils almost in the stock location. I've already got the 10mm Magnacore wires for a 2nd gen.... so far they seem to be a good fit, I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

My goal is to have it at least driveable for a cruise on july 11th. I started on the project sept of 2001 but I didn't do much for a long time (hard to get motivated to work on the car when it's 10 degF in the garage in the winter).

Anyone else have any spark plug wires that have worked out well?

You attached the Fuel pump directly to the Gas tank?

That looks like some real nice hardware and you did a great job installing it.

However, I'm really concerned that stuff is going to hang to low and the first curb you hit could be real trouble. The last thing you want is a huge gas leak with potential sparks. These 7's are low to begin with, are you jacking up the car or did you raise the tank? Then it may be ok. It's hard to tell from the picture just how low the pump will be.

When you said welding it to the tank I thought internally mounted like the FCs.

But hey if this car is only for the strip then no problem right, but street driving I don't know.

Anyway, good luck on your project.

Scott

setzep, i welded two metal strips to the tank then 4 studs to the stips, then bolted the pump to the stips using rubber insulated bushings. one of the metal strips lined up perfectly with the existing tank strap. I had to do it like this bc its a gravity feed pump so you really cant mount it any higher than the sump. when the cars on the ground its a good 14'' from the street. before i try and drive it theyll be shield covering it. im still workin on the other pics for you guys, but thanks for the love so far. later mike

The car is 100% wired now, even the sparkplug wires. I used the 83 starter/reverse light harness. Hopefully tomorrow the salesman at work will go pick up my oil lines/fittings so I can run it this weekend!

well I got my gslse fuel tank acid cleaned / sealed then installed today and I am running the fuel lines/ installing the fuel pump. for those that have an SA and read that the gslse tank would not work, it does ande will fit. you just need to rebend the pass side tank strap and use some longer bolts with spacers. alex your write up on the fuel system helped a lot with the tank. I am useing -10 from the tank to the pump and 3/8 push lock from pump to the engine. so all I will have left to do is the exhaust. and prat it starts as easy as setzep did.

Did more tuning today and so far it's been everything I've hoped for and more! I have all ranges tuned except it's still a little rich right before 0psi. I finally got it tuned in the upper rpm ranges and OMG!! I would have never expected 7psi to do so much damage to my rear tires! With no boost controller (line running from turbo to WB) it opens the wastegate wide open at 3300rpm. 1st gear is useless and once I hit 4500rpm in 2nd the tires are lit up like a christmas tree! 3rd gear just pulls hard to rev limiter (8000rpm) and so do the last two gears. Needless to say I had a very big grin on my face when all this happened
Just thought I'd give another update and rub it in to those of you that are still working on your turbo FB hehe

Are you doing all your own tuning? Are you using the Tech-Edge Wideband? Have you just been tuning fuel, and not timing?

And as far as rubbing it in...you ***!!!

Congrats.

All own tuning. Local made WBo2 meter that uses a NTK L1H1 sensor. Tuning fuel, timing is all set.

Yes I'm an *** hehe

Thanks
