FC NA vs newish mustang

yeah im confused on this to because im sure that mustang would have killed me, but whatever... anyways,

On my way home from work I turn into the street and a mustang is slowly creeping up on me. I didnt know what kind of mustang it was because i had no intentions on racing it. So im just driving like normal and he passes me up and revs his engine. To my surprise, I see he has dual fart cannons... yes dual fart cannons. So i figured, i have to at least try. So i just floor it in the current gear i am in (2nd) and i start catching on him. and as soon as i get side by side, he slams his breaks and slows down best part is that I got to shoot some decent flames at that kid.

I think i won that race was because he might of had an auto. i heard it shift twice while i was still going in second? beats me but whatever, showed that bitch who was boss

also i have just a straight pipe and cheap cone filter

Post up the model year it looks like. I find it hard to believe if is a 2005+ automatic V6. If it was a 2011+ V6, it would without a doubt kill you in bus lengths. The V8... Well, you know the story with that.

Perhaps he wasn't even racing you

The autos also have pretty tall gears, if you heard him shift twice he was just driving normal.

I normally don't post in these racing threads, but I have had 5 years experience with a nearly stock na FC.

I doubt the mustang was racing.

My na had rb muffers, pre-silencer, cone air filter, and emissions removed, for most of its life. I had nopi stage 2 clutch at a point.
Not sure if I had all these mods on for all the races/encounters I had.

Im embarrassing myself by posting this
But in my experience my na rx7 has been beaten or matched by a:
95 subaru impreza wagon,
early 90's honda civic hatchback,
a toyota prius going up hill after a turn (Idk how the **** this happened),
an early 90's corvette,
my memory gets fuzzy on the rest of these but, maybe an integra, and eclipse, I forget what else.

There could have been something wrong with my Fc, who knows. I don't think so. It was my daily driver for 5 years.

But anyway
Im sorry but I find it amusing when owners of na fc's post race threads thinking they have a fast car.
Put a bridgeport motor in or add a turbo, then post up what you've raced.

This made me laugh so hard a little bit of wee came out

Perhaps its the massive torque of that eletric motor?
Or he did massive weight reduction by taking all the batteries out?

Im still lolling Made my day

How the hell did you lose to those? a wagon!? I thinks there is something wrong with the driver. Unless your 5th and 6th ports aren't working properly. I've waxed del sols, civics, cobalts, 4cyl eclipses... my N/a only has an exhaust.

Let me clear up a few things...

The subaru wagon race has been posted before here:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hlight=impreza
and here with difference being turbo:
https://www.rx7club.com/racing-kills-lounge-10/fc-vs-impreza-part-ii-turbos-957248/
The 1st race, I stuck with him, but couldn't gain any.
The 2nd race (with turbo), he had me by half a car length.

The honda civic encounter: I saw this early 90's possably late 80's hatchback, entering the hwy, it was packed with ricers, so it had to have another 500 pounds to its weight, I think this was when I had the half bridge port motor installed.
I did beat this one.
So I slowed down while the civic was merging and matched its speed (55-60), I figure it was already accelerating, anyway once we were even I got on it, probably in 3rd and passed it with ease.

The toyota prius encounter: I really can't believe this happened.
This was back in the day when I only been driving the 7 a few months, I probably had no mods done to it yet.
I was at this traffic light, with the prius in front of me. We are making a left turn, this left turn is going up a long hill. When the light goes green the prius moves toward the right lane, I move in the left lane to pass it, and get on the throttle, only to find out that I'm hardly making any progress in passing the prius. At this point I'm staring at the prius saying WTF! I don't remember anything after.

The corvette was from a stop, at the 1/8 mile he passed me.
Not sure on my mods at the time, it might have been with the half bridge motor, idk.

I really don't remember any thing else as clearly, although I did have some encounters on the hwy within the first few months of driving the 7, no mods.
