to all who have To4's... i searched
so i have a t04e turbo kit and i was goin to put it on but i came across a good deal on a t04s complete kit. im looking for 400 horse, what do you guys think?
its going to be with a vmount, methanol, streetport and 1600 secondaries... and of course other thing like a clutch and such.
so my question is, is it worth or should i stick with the turbo i have now? my t04e kit is not on the car, my motor is blown but it will be resurected soon
any input helps, thanks

what is the size of the compressor on the t04e. if it is anything less than .60 your going to have trouble reaching your goals. I <3 my t04s, ( I was going to get a t04e for quicker response) but I just got a divided .84 hot side and it's all good.
(oh if you want 400 flywheel hp you can have it smaller, (you would only need 340 rwhp to get that.
)

NO no and NO. The stamping/casting outside of a compressor and / or turbine housing is ONLY THE A/R and DOES NOT give any refferance to a compressor or tubrine wheel trim, only the A/R. Most sub families share a common compressor housing. EXAMPLE: the T04E's come in 40, 46, 50, 54, 57, and 60 trim. ALL share the T04E .6 A/R compressor housing. Same with T04B's, they share the same housing, but machined for the appropriet trim wheel. Shame shame... all this turbo knowledge you've gained is lost already Tweak?? lol Trim and A/R are not the same and are very loosley related.

And that is why your are the turbo expert!
Opps, I am sorry. Don't know what I was thinking. Been a long day. I always read you saying, take the compressor off and measure, then we will know for sure.
Thanks for correcting me and again sorry for the bad information.
Got the words mixed up again.
Am I at least correct that he will have trouble getting to the magic 400 mark with anything less than a 60 trim?

I’m running the T04s from the real XS-Engineering kit with a 1.15 hot side. Conservative Steve Kahn Tune 465 RWHP @ 22psi (dynapack dyno) With a Judge Ito Port I get full Boost by like 45-600 RPM, Its sitting atop a crappy manifold so im loosing some ponies in the manifold, and tune

18 Psi was 420 Rwhp

Wow you gained 62 hp going from 15 psi to 18 (20 hp per psi). That's a nice sweet spot there. Gained 45 going from 18 to 22 (11.25 hp per psi) is still good too. Did you guys feel like it was running out of of steam at 22 psi?
Any charts by chance Bacon?

heres a old thread about it

turbo only made 9 more hp if i remember right from 22 to 24psi so we kept it @ 22 since i was out of the eff range
Theres still some ponies left since i could tune alot leaner runnign C16, but the haltech was having Map sensor fluctioations so we kept it safer, also the manifold is just a pos OBX (re-welded and modified) i personally think theres a easy 30-40 rwhp left @ the same boose levels just tuning it to the limit

Thanks.
Do you still have that turbo? Did you leave it at 18 psi on pump gas? Ever have any problems with it?

Been planning on upgrading, but when I do ill be ditching my E6K, and thinking about going to alky /E85 so it’s not going to be as cheap as swapping turbos and re-tuning so I’ve been holding off. Figure id see how deep into the 10's I can push the setup b4 I upgrade.
k so what really want to know is, say i have the biggest t04e, can i hit 400 rwhp without maxing out the turbo or should i just buy the t04s?
thanks you guys for all you inputs
