Gt35r Or Gt40r Details inside

OK so heres my problem. I want 380-410 unported out of my FD. i already have a T4 header. I need fuel and computer. I got that covered. a also have a full 3inch vband downpipe. with full 3in all the way back. i want this to be the best of everything racing wise... I.E. Autocrossable... to a point. dragable. and driftable. i got the clutch and tires for all the above i just need the power. I want experience from you guys. I need something that im gonna be able to grow into for later with more power avalible. but still have good spool. So far this has led me to a GT35r with a .95 hotside T4 of course. but here is the problem. iI dont think it will be enough for later. so the next step would be GT4088R with like a .86 hotside. please help. i need experience on this one. Thanks for all of your help. Ill take dyno tunes and talk as well as street experience. Thanks again.

You want 380 to 410 rwhp? If you going to port the motor & want to race auto cross with fast spool up use the GT35/40 or GT3582R as it is now named.
Use the 1.06 AR.

I use this turbo for superlap events. It works perfectly & spools up faaarkin quick.

What revs do you start and make full boost at? and how much power are u makin. im lookin for somethin to grow into. And yes between 380ish and 420ish rwhp would be nice. as of now like i said before it is not ported but i dont wanna buy a turbo and have to change it within 2 yrs cuz its not enough. Im willin to have some decent lag for now till i get it ported.

500R =) , super fast spool up and can give you plenty power if you plan to port the engine later on.

i wish i could but i already have all the stuff for the single just not the turbo... the guy who sold me the car had put on one of those XSPower turbo kits. so needless to say. it broke right after i bought it. So yeah and i dont have quite that much money. Isnt the turbo in that kit a GT35R tho with a 1.06 hot side?

No the xs power turbo isnt a gt35r, unless they're making it ball bearing now and i dont think it has a 1.06 exhaust housing.
Sounds like you should go with a gt3582r, it has the power your looking for with not much lag.

are you talking about the 500R or the XS power turbo? No the 500R is not the same as the GT35R with 1.06 hotside. Give Zero R a msg, hes the vendor/mod for this section. Check A-Spec tuning regarding your turbo question.

I use a GT3582R with a 1.06 AR.

Starts making boost @ 2000rpm in 4th gear on dyno. Full boost at 4000rpm. I run 15psi on the street @ 470rwhp then 20psi on the track @ 588rwhp with 98ron+10% Ethanol & water injection.

All numbers recorded on a Dyno Dynamics.

I have 1 other thing to say...match all your parts for max power. I know you bought the car in single turbo format but matching is important to make power.
IE: Pushing 20psi through a pissy *** intercooler with a low CFM rating will get you no where.

Good luck.

If interested in a 4094 kit let me know. I started were you are at a few years back. Started with a 40r short mani, then went 40r long runner, next 4094, now I am ready for a 42. Its just never enough. Figure were you want to be down the road and allow some room to grow as everyone wants more.. LOL..

i saw this picture of a GT35 turbo setup and the output port of the compressor is pointing sideway, is it adjustable or else it'd be pretty hard to bend the piping at that position.

^huh? if you're talking about how the compressor housing is clocked, it can be rotated 360 degress at your preference.

how about T04S, ball bearing, water+oil cooled? they're inexpensive and u can pick A/R from .70, .84, 1.0 and 1.15, with devided/undevided housing and upgraded anti-surge compressor housing too, i am in search for a good turbo too, and i am also comparing GT35, GT4088 and T04, so good luck.

Leave your ports stock. With a 35r and the right fuel system you can make just about 400whp on pump gas. If you want to exceed 16psi get some alcohol injection and you can to to the limit of the turbo. You do not need port work to get to high power levels. Porting will likely only change your redline power level and will actually in most likelyhood make you loose lowend torque. Mine has a very mild streetport and made 347whp on a dyno dynamics dyno.

I think the op should start with an A-Spec Tuning 500r Kit and call it day. It will be money wisely spent. This kit answers yes to all his questions.
