Driving from Miami to Texas soon - need advice

Was wondering if there will be any snow / ice to worry about. Going next month, from Miami to San Antonio, then up to Garland. Any input from you Texas folks would be appreciated. I will be pulling a car trailer with a pickup truck.

You may find some snow around Garland, but thats about it. Drive slow and dont hit the brakes use the engine to slow down.

Ive done that trp from san antonio to Miami (and vice versa) many times. You should be fine...you may encounter rain...BUt no snow. Can't say the same when you go up north texas though. The drive to south Fl should be good. Have fun and drive safe. I miss miami

Thanks a lot for the input. Sounds like I'll be just fine. I can hit the Tow/Haul button for a nice engine braking effect from Duramax/Allison combo. Must not mess up FD on trailer...

If your driving a Duramax you should have plenty of **** stops every time you fill up with fuel. We hauled a plane from destin FL to TX and had to stop for fuel about every 320 miles. Take it slow trough Louisiana when you get close to the TX border and take I12 (iirc) so you don't have to go trough New Orleans. Be safe!!!!

Definately on the MP3 player!! My bro in law and I drove from LA to Fort Worth in my FD (I did not drive the car for about 2 days after we got there lol). I dont think we would have survived without Sirius lol. Also take a small tool kit, flashlights with spare batteries, extra cans of gas and some survival food (I think they sell some MRE's at some sporting goods stores).

Thanks again! And I'm hoping to get decent mileage from the truck, it gets me around 500 miles a tank unloaded.

I'm in Garland...

You really can't predict what the weather will be like a month from now. Last weekend, it was 80degrees and sunny one day and 42degrees and cloudy the next! If we do get any ice or snow, it generally only lasts a day or two, so you can easily plan around the bad areas as your trip approaches.

Don't be a ******* *****. Its not like you are going to be snowbound or in avalanche territory. If it worries you that ******* much - check out the weather channel and not someones crystal ball.

Just got back. 3000 miles and 48 hours of driving. The way there I drove straight all the way from Miami to Texas. I started hallucinating, so my wife drove the rest of the way. I got a little bit over 18 miles to the gallon, stopping every 400 miles to top off the tank and use the restrooms. The way back I drove the whole time stopping only for fuel, and just pulling over once for a 45 minute nap when I started hearing things. Almost a full day of driving, the 5 hour energy drink from the commercials kept me alive. I got exactly 15 miles per gallon towing a car on a trailer. Thank God we made it safe and with no problems at all. Texas is very nice but Louisiana is nasty and I hated it.
