Market value of GSL-SE

Insurance company wants to total my 85 GSL-SE. It is very nice condition with 88K
miles. Runs great and is red looks very good. They say 3200 based on one car found at wrecking yard. I say at least 4500. What say you experts?

I think you can get more than $3200. If they admitted assessing the value of your car based on only one other car, **** them. This tells me they really don't know what the market value is. Keep the claim open as long as it takes to let you build enough documentation to present to them what other sevens of equal condition are going for.

Pics. Before and after.

If it was in excellant condition, that is a bit low. Surf Craigslist and see what you can find on there. Some of the car dealers are asking outrageous prices. See if you can find completed sales, there or eBay.

Gee, that sounds pretty good. I was thinking my 85SE with new paint was worth maybe 2300.

I had a total on my 85SE once, they did a base of $3200 but I showed pics and he put in a show car catagory and the value was around $4000, so they did not total it and payed to get it fixed. Show lots of pictures and tell them that you bring it to car shows all the time.

I got an insurance settlement for my 84 GSL of $3,800 plus $400 for a rental. It was rear ended by a trucker, in very good shape but with 120,000 miles. The appraisor would only do the blue book ($2,200) but I appealed directly to the trucker's insurance agent, provided pictures and documentation of recent work, and argued that it would cost me $3,800 to replace. Of course it was totally the trucker's fault, but his company was very nice about it and cut the $3,800 check and picked up the rental tab without any question. Also they did not total the car, I got to keep it with the understanding that the check was to get it fixed.

Yeah pics of before and after. Also mileage. Those two things will be a lot more helpful in assessing how much the car is worth.
