that sucks about your alignment. I dont agree with his attitude and how he treated you BUT...

its not uncommon to switch left to right on the front to see if the pull changes directions. If the pull changes direction, you kno its in the tire and not the alignment. Looks like they changed direction on the tires and hoped you wouldnt notice, or forgot. Big asian guy, do you kno if his name was Tim?

I don't know what his name was. No, the tires are NOT supposed to go backwards. That can ruin my tires, as well as slide me off wet roads. No excuse.

Here are what my friends have to say about their business:

"Sigh...I didn't get good results with Motorsport Techniques. I figured it'd be convenient for you but I guess not. Orignally I've always went to my local Big O tires but I thought I'd try something different expecting better results when another friend had recommended Motorsport. I didn't like the alignment I had recieved so I'm never going back there again. I had my local Big O Tires do an alignment after Motorsport and it's all good now. However, after I get all my suspension stuff on I have to find a place that can corner balance."

".............. I have too noticed that when I got an alignment done at Motorsport. The specs were fine but only when I let go of the steering wheel. When I straighten it, it would pull to the right. Maybe his eyes were slightly off again but an alignment is useless if the steering wheel isn't straight during an alignment."

"Funny thing is when I got my alignment the guy blamed it on my right pulling due to my tires too. My tires were worn so I didn't question it, but it had done the same thing when I got new tires too. So, I went to my local Big O Tires and the specs were off. They aligned it and it's all good now. They need to calibrate their alignment machine. I'm getting tired of these hit and miss shops."

well just because the alignment guy is a douche doesn't mean the whole business is like that.

yes tires can have radial pulls and side to side rotating can fix a lot of pulling issues but this sounds like their machine is out of whack. yes the idiot should not be trying to side to side rotate directional tires and even more of an idiot for coming off with an attitude and pointing out that he screwed up by putting the wrong tires in the wrong locations especially after not test driving the car to be sure the pull was gone.

last point though is, yes the tires are directional, no they won't cause you to run into a ditch having them on the wrong side, yes they will not grip as well but by no means will you not have traction just because it is on incorrect.

i'm not defending the shop, but it's possible the alignment actually is correct and you have a problem with one of your rear tires. maybe a grossly underinflater r/r tire, or some other problem...

the shop should still have identified a problem, a tire would be easily visibly underinflated to cause a pull that you can feel.

Being an ex-service manager i have dealt with alot of this.
Unfortuneatly it is hard to find a good alignment man. And yes the machines do get out of spec and create problems. The biggest problem encountered was the tech not checking his work afterwards and assuming that because everything was in "Spec" that the car was good to go.
This is the responsibility of the Manager to insist that ALL cars receive a test drive to ensure quality control. And as a back up the manager or another service writer should verify the techs work. But there are few shops that look at this and actually perform a road test after the fact.
At the shop i ran we dealt with Mercedes,Bmw,Porsche and other german cars.
All of these cars have specific alignment procedures to follow. mercedes was a very time consuming car to align. Bmw had specs to put weight in the car at specific points to duplicate passengers for proper alignment. We went thru many shops until we found one that could perform these accurately. And they were always test driven before the customer received the car back. And there were times we found things like the steering wheel off center mainly on the Mercedes. And at times we found bad tires that were causing the pull that the shop did not pick up.
The problem is that most of these shops are in a big hurry to get them in and get them out. What they do not consider is the consequences of poor quality control.
Any issues should be addressed to the Manager of the repair shop.

yep, it's not always the mechanics fault(not in this case though). last shop i worked at had a 25 year old alignment machine, the bearing plates bound up and the machine was out of whack though the Hunter tech said it was in spec he was full of **** because every single alignment the steering wheel would be about 5* off to the right and often times the cars would wander to the right.

i got to the point i just didn't want to do alignments because i would have to re-rack the cars 2-5 times (keep in mind i worked flat rate and we were given 1-1.5 hours to do a 4 wheel alignment)to re-center the steering wheel or make adjustments to cure dirfts/wanders/pulls. having good equipment is the shops responsibility so not always is it the techs fault but usually the shops for having lame techs or crappy equipment. in my case at least i tried but they simply wouldn't replace the relic machine..

I thought about that too, I checked the air pressure, they were equal.

Yes, the flyer is $100, just so people won't bid on it and give me a negative feedback for no reason. If they want, they can bid the $100 I am fine with a $100 negative feedback. LOL

If you read the thread again, even till now they still deny any wrong doing, and would make up more lies along the way to cover they ***. Just dishonest.
