Spend some time going through the archives -- you have to set your view option to "from the beginning". You will learn a lot about what fits on the FD. Also, read Tire Racks wheel and tire tech, lots of good solid info there ---

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/wheeltech.htm
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tiretech.jsp

Anyway, regarding the GT-7:

That wheel is NOT FD friendly for offsets.

Looks like your best options in 18" are: (which I don't necessarily recommend, 17" is more streetable)

18x8 or 18x9 front, +43 offset with "B" disk -- this wheel will NOT clear upgraded brakes and will likely be pretty tight with the stock brakes -- check with your Volk wheel vendor to verify fitment

18x10 rear, +44 offset C disk or +45 offset D disk. Again, the D disk might not clear the rear brakes, verify with the Volk vendor. The +44 offset may rub with 285/30 tires, depending on tire brand and suspension height most likely.

Another cheaper alternative that will fit the car better is the SSR GT7. You could run 18x8.5/18x9.5 or 18x9.5 at all four wheels, which is what I would recommend (for rotation and neutral handling). Check them out at the Tire Rack:

Contact Jason at rx7store. He just put those rims on his/their project car. He'll be able to give you appropriate sizing and most likely a good deal on the rims.

When you get a response from Jason let me know. I was actually going to purchase these rims tomorrow for my FD, but I'd like to hear the official word first.

i called jason he is not exactly cetain on the offset. he said it was a 40 on the front. but that offset is not even avalable. what rynberg states for offsets and disk sizes is the best to go with.. barkeep, what color is your fd? also what color gt-7s are you going with?

I talked with Jason on the phone. He told me that he had 18x8.5 on the front with 235 tires (Seems a little small) and 18x10 with 275 on the back (seems about right).

I'm not exactly sure if he went C or D disk on the back.

He didnt know what offset up front.

I'v heard of people getting 18x10 up front, so I think 18x9.5 up front would be good with 255's maybe. Someone help me out here.

My FD is red and I think I am going to go with the mecury silver.

Alright, I'll make my purchase soon. What do you guys think of the mecury silver color on a red fd? It sounds like it will look good, but I'm having a hard time mentally visualizing it.

lol.. thats the color i was going to get . mer silver on my red fd. i think it would look great but the waiting period of 3 months is too long i think. if you order them now you will have them hopefully by mid july. but volk is known to take a long time. btw..jason told me the front was 18x8?? rynberg's fitments are pefect for the car.

18x8? I dont believe that at all. 18x8.5 is volks recommended size, so thats probobly what he did.

I was told it would only take 1 week to get my rims in. I have a connection on the inside though which might be whats helping.

edit: sorry they make half sizes in 19" but not 18"

Let me know if you are interested in these wheels. I can recommend a great fitment for it as well as provide you with an exceptional price. I have the inventory list updated currently from Mackin. Please email me sales@autornd.com if you want me to do a stock check.

Thanks, Rishie

Ahh, I just see. There is exactly one set showing to be in stock in Gunmetal. It meets my recipe to run a 18x9 and 255/35 as well as 18x10 285/30/18 if you'd like. Need about 3mm fender rolling in rear and you can run that section width.

Let me know if any of you want em.
