Question Theft in car what is this valued for insurance purpose?

alright someone smashed my window and stole my stereo deck, and there are gashes on the deck panel. How much is a brand new OEM heater/stereo panel worth? If I can come up with $500+ damage to the interior they will buy me new interior pieces free of charge. I have theft insurance by the way. What do you guys think?

I would call my local mazda dealer to get a price quote( at or near retail prices(its easy to go over $500 on interior cosmetic parts) then if you want NEW OEM parts call Ray at Malloy and then put the rest of the money in your pocket

Good info there. Also keep in mind that the repair of the window will be included in your comprehensive deductible. That may be $500 by itself. You could get the estimate from a Mazda dealer to determine the repair cost. Maybe you could find a used window on the forum, and fix it yourself.

well my insurance includes damage due to theft included so the window will be replaced free of charge since I'm paying a little more for the service monthly. But this is my question, my dad says that the insurance company won't give me the money until I get the estimate from the shop and that they will only pay stuff that goes over $500. Meaning if the bill was $600 they will only give me $100 and the $500 comes from me. Does anyone else know how this works exactly?

alright so what do you guys think about this one, I'm gonna go to the Mazda Dealership like you guys suggested and get the estimation of the parts that got damaged. Then bring it to the designated Geico inspection place and show the guy the bill. Now I'm concerned about weather they will reinburst me after I pay or would they pay the place directly? I'm hoping that they will pay directly so that when I get the parts I can just sell them instead of keeping them.

It sounds like your deductible is $500. You pay the first $500, the insurance pays the rest. So if the window repair is $400, and the damaged parts are $350, the total damage is $750. You pay the first $500, and the insurance pays $250.

Ask them to make the check out to you. Tell them that you are not sure when you will make the repairs, as you do not have the $500 right now. If the car is insured under your dads policy, the check will probably have to be written to him.

But,....

First, check if it WILL affect your insurance rate for the next period if you claim. Maybe, just extra 250 over your deductable isn't worth the raised premium, you know.

Insurance companies do not generally raise rates for comprehensive damage claims, as these claims are not normally the fault of the customer.
