Question Speedo works but Odo and tripmeter have gone blank?

Does anyone have any hints of where to begin my search for the possible culprit or could it be that the speedo circuit board has simply gone kaput?
I recently installed a new clutch and had the tranny out so had all the tranny (and thus the speed sensor disconnected). I have been under the car since and all the connectors look sound. Even if it was the sensor why is the speedo still working? I'm thinking there is another input device somewhere feeding a signal to the odo.
Any help would be appreciated. This is the first time I've come to the forum for help...don't let me down guys.
Regards,
Crispy
PS the odo still lights up just with no numbers indicated.

I have seen instances where the odometer goes blank, and the tachometer, and speedometer don't work. I don't know what causes it. If you find out make sure you post your fix.

Sure I'll post my fix...if I can figure out what it is but it appears from the thunderous response I've recieved from my plea for help that I have a unique problem and will have to go it alone

Crispy, I've been to your site. Seen the mods you have as well as how meticulous you are. If anyone can figure this one out it's you man. Good luck! Tom

I have the same problem except that my speedo doesn't work either. I am hoping it is just the fuse and will check today. I have found that any problem that comes up with my car at least 10 other people on here have experienced. Maybe more will chime in and help us out. If I find out what my problem is I will post it and maybe you could do the same.

Mine is also different in that the odometer and trip meter both show their numbers but do not change.

After pondering the question for some time, searching through every wiring schematic I could lay hands on I thought I'd just let you guys know, those that were interested, that it turned out to be the odometer itself. Which just so happens to be an intergral part of the speedometer assembly. How do I know? I replaced the speedometer assembly and everything works. My car now indicates 1 mile on the odometer
I pity anyone who doesn't have a warranty, like I do, as a new speedo/odo unit will set you back about $360. OUCH!

Crispy
