Can you get the bridge port pulse with a large street port?

Its a series 2 12A
Because i love the pulse at idle but a bridgy will use to much gas. so if i get a big street port can i still have the cool pulse to pull the babes or do i have to bridge it?
I'm pulling my engine out in the next week an i still haven't decided. crazy i know.
I'm planning on cleaning up the engine bay while its getting rebuilt.
I will be putting a new header and rebulilt carb on it when it goes back in.

cool aye guys. i will put pics up in a couple of weeks

Yes Ito ports is the way to go! Sounds like a bridge port but its not! Just remember to use the solid corner seals if using this style port!

large idle jets with a weber carb, holley or even a nikki will get you the pulse your looking for on a stock port motor... a streetport as big as the one shown above will not be a fun daily driver, especially with a 12A.. the powerband will be high while bottom end suffers.. bigger isnt always better for a street car

There is a member on here from Fort Wayne (SS124A) that has a 12A with a massive street port that makes 225 horsepower to the wheels. He had it in an Rx3, but last I heard was trying to sell the Rx3. He was keeping the 12A though. I've never seen dyno sheets to prove it, but the guy definitely knows what he is talking about, and a lot of people swear by him. It definitely sounds like a bridgeport.

You'll need to make a recording so we can all hear it once she's running!

Good timing too, because I am also wrestling with this decision right now. I'll be interested to hear your results and opinions. Good luck with the rest of the assembly.

Using a very light flywheel & clutch will make the idle pulse much stronger, you can still drive a street port on the street without the headaches of driving a bridge port on the street.
