Not Building Boost

Well I got my rx-7 a little over 3 months ago,the only thing was it didn't wanna build boost but it drove an sounded fine untill the gas peddle is pressed pass 1/4 throttle then the boost gauge go's up to 0 an the car starts to putter an acts as if it wasnt to cut off but it stays running just keep's puttering. And when the gas is pressed below 1/4 throttle you can hear the turbo an it seems like it's building boost but no power an the gauge reads -20? . . .if somebody could help me or might have an idea that would be great thanks! . . .
Wll now when I went to start my car the other day it was pretty cold out but I dunno what or how it would start messin up like it did but anyway. I went to start my car an it started right up like always an ran for about 20 seconds then shut off,so I started it back up an it begain to sputter an sounded really sick so I dunno what it is? . . .I love this car an just want it to rn normal for now I'll get toupgradeing things later! . .could anyone help? . .thanks!

I am by far from the most qualifed person to be giving advice on rx7's. However the situation you are describing is exactly what my rx7 is doing at the moment. After checking the compression then pulling off the turbo inlet duct and checking the turbine i've come to the conclusion it's the turbo that's making my car run like ass. If the car isn't bulding boost, it's blowing blue smoke out of the exhaust, it doesn't want to stay running when you're trying to gas it, all sounds like what mine is doing and all sounds like the turbo. Fortuante they're reasonable used and they're easy to find. Good luck.

search for "boost leak" because thats what it seems you have.. also check to make sure that the MAP sensor is pluged in properly.. But it just sounds like your boost is leaking out causing the car to run extreamly rich causing it to run like shit and sputter.

did you ever resolve this problem? my car is doing the same thing and i had ordered an safc about a week ago so we hooked it up (s5) and when i turn the ignition on the airflow reading spikes to 100%. when you leave the ignition on and press the flapper it jumps down to .4%. i'm gonna try to replace the airflow meter.

any other suggestions are appreciated.
