Carbon hood done!!!

Here it is, didnt turn out as good as I hoped This is not ready to sell yet, unless someone wants one with air bubbles in the edges. This one we hand layed up, we just bought a vacuum bagging machine so the rest will be vacuum bagged!

All of my future carbon parts will be vacuumed

Anyway, here you go!

Schweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

You let me know when the 1st production one is ready, and I'll take it!

Granted I can't see the air bubbles, in that pictures anyway. Is it braced the same as the Fiberglassed ones I'm assuming?

Yes, It is the same. I may try to figure out a way to paint a design on it and use it on my race car?? I hate to cut it up and throw it away.......(that ought to cause some discussion!)

I will let you know

Also, did you ever engineer a hood prop into these?

Not yet, it will end up being a add on after the hood is made. I will come up with something that we just glass on the back side.

Will paint stick to the hood?? I would want to paint the top side. how bad are the air bubbles?? would paint cover it, and if so how much would you want for this one??

To paint it, you just need to do like any fiberglass part. The part would need to be sanded to get rid of the shine, and fill the bubbles with bondo. The bubbles are very small, I have filled some of them already with clear gelcoat. The rest of them are around the edges. I would sell this one for $200.00 plus shipping??

Also, you really need to prime the hood!

12lbs for the carbon, 13.5 on the fiberglass!!! I though they would weigh the same but the carbon actually came out lighter!!!

I think that I need the hood, headlight covers, fenders, doors, and front bumper mask all made out of CF. :-)

Good effort, 1st! Mine's being hampered by some fancy reinforcement/hood latch loop bracing.

My dream come true . Now I just have to decide whether I want a stock hood or a T2 hood . Great work though bro, keep it up .

PS - Once I get a job (and have the spare money), you can count on me to buy one of those babys

I will be very interested once i get some cash flow.

As it is now, can it be fastened on w/ 4 hood pins? (or would that look even ricier than rice. looking just plain rice is fine, just not like basmatti rice or something, ya know?)
