what should I do.
I have a 86 rx7 non turbo. It has a bad inner seal. What should I do when I replace it to get some more power. No alot of money but plenty of time.

Time is cheap.
Money is needed to do what you want.
Porting will help an N/A achieve more power but sorry to say TURBO is the kicker here.

Your bad seal is gonna cost you a minimum of $1k,so after that you can block off and delete anything you want.
The power numbers for doing that are marginal but it makes the engine more simplistic.
Porting the irons and doing some modifications of that nature will awaken what you have.
The power numbers for NA though in my opinion are just not worth it,monetarily speaking.
When it comes down to it "the snail will prevail".

It is more that just me merely giving you a single answer as I do not know exactly what your goals are for the car.
Turning an N/A engine into a Turbo engine is a little involved.
THIS link will give you a little insight into what you are up against.

This Guy is one of the more knowledgeable fellows we have to look to for info.
Lots of info on here and if it's been done,it is on the Forum.As I suggest to a lot of new guys that drop by,Sit back,grab a Coffee and absorb as much info as you can read..then read some more!..lol!
You'd be surprised at what Guys have done and how easy it is when you get down to it.
Don't let the mechanical aspects of the car scare you.
After you get through the info you'll laugh at how easy stuff works.

OH!..and anything that you want to do to the engine should be done BEFORE you build it..not during.
If you go into a project such as this one you will find out quickly that your "on the cheap" will definitely be one of the more expensive lessons you have learned.
Make a plan,stick to it,Find out what you need to do the job,get the parts and go for it.
Do it once.Do it right...

what i want is get the car so i can drive it. it sat for years. i did all the filters and fluids. I replaced the thermostat with a mazda one and i did a restore to the fuel tank and plugs and wires. the thing ran great. compression was 85 both rotors but i was getting air in the coolant. cylinder leak down test found my inner seal. i want to port it while i got it apart but other than that i don't know 200hp would be nice. not looking for break neck speed.

Coming from the perspective of someone who's been down the road of trying to make their N/A quicker, here's some advice.
Concentrate on the car's strengths. Power and torque will never be a strength of that car, but it corners like its on rails. Sure, a port and intake/exhaust will give you a little extra oomph, but guys in stock WRXs will still take your lunch money.
Suspension upgrades and some sticky tires will set your little car off. If you're looking to smoke people at stop lights, a naturally aspirated RX-7 ain't the right car. If you wanna have fun in the twisties, you're in one of the best bang-for-the-buck cars available.

its really up to you take some time do your research on the pros and cons of going turbo , and porting
Going turbo will yield more power , but it will also give shorter engine life . alot of heat , need for bigger injecters , more complexity . over all
Best bet is a turbo 2 swap , swapping the turbo and ecu from a turbo 2 aswell as the injectors , and you have a decent turbo car
other option is keeping it na and depending how far you wanna go with porting and rpms will dictatate how much money if you bridge port it it will make more power but you will need an ecu injectors maybe , and to make use of the bridge ports the motor has to rev higher then stock since the powerband is all the way up there so you need balancing and maybe lighten the rotors
if you only street port it mildly you will gain a few hp and wont need all the other things
