I'd hoped never to have to post here.

Around about Jan 16th, s5sleeper (joemaddox) PM'd me about selling me a s5 turbo waterpump. I had been looking for one a few months before.

Although I already found a waterpump and was no longer looking, s5sleeper (joemaddox) had a s5 turbo manifold for $30. After seeing pics attached to a text message, we agreed to ship it via a USPS large flat rate box for $15. I sent $45 to s5sleeper via paypal with a note on the payment for what the money was for as requested by the seller. After sending the money, I sent a follow up PM saying I sent the money, specified a shipping address, and said to contact me if there were any problems.

I sent the money on Jan 19th.

I waited about week and didn't get anything in the mail, nor did I get any messages from s5sleeper (joemaddox). I sent a PM asking for a status update. I did not receive a reply of any kind. After a few days, I sent a text message to the same effect to the number we used to exchange pictures of the manifold. I still have not received a reply after a day.

I will be opening a dispute with paypal to get my money back. I would prefer the turbo manifold, but at this point, it seems like I am unable to get an answer if the manifold shipped, when I should be getting it, or why its been delayed so I will settle for my money back.

Curiously, all the incoming PMs from s5sleeper (joemaddox) have disappeared from my inbox without me touching them. s5sleeper's member page indicated they have made 21 posts on the forum, but a search for them returns 0 results. Not sure what it means, but its odd that nearly all traces of them on the forums are gone.

The reason for this is because the person you sent money to has been permanently banned from this forum multiple times. Definitely file paypal claim.

THIS is why I have stated that there will be no more selling through PMs. I posted it as a sticky in the WTB section. This is a very important thing--I am expecting people to follow it from this point on. There have been a couple people who do not know how to listen, and they keep coming back for more.

I have been in contact with s5sleeper (joemaddox) through a paypal claim. I have received a S4 UIM instead of the S5 turbo exhaust manifold I intended to purchase. I would not say that I've been scammed, but due to the breakdown in communication this hasn't been a pleasant and smooth transaction.

I intend to work with the seller in a calm and curious manner to see if I can exchange the UIM for the part I desired. I do not encourage anyone to take this as either a recommendation or a condemnation of s5sleeper (joemaddox). I acknowledge that any further dealings I may have with this seller are not advised by the admins of this site and that I continue at my own risk. I will in the future pay more attention to the buying/selling rules of the forums.

Join the club. I was sent a transmission brace with a busted rubber insert after he said it was in "great" shape. The worse part is that it was sold by a DIFFERENT club member (who is now banned as well). I didn't realize who the seller actually was until I got in touch with the mods here and noticed the email address attached to the Payal account.

I'm currently waiting on a judgment from Paypal. He's claiming that I must be trying to send him the broken brace that's currently on my car in exchange for the "great" one he sent me. Photos, etc have been submitted to Paypal, but I have no idea how they normally handle these things.

I wish I had used my credit card, but my funds came from my bank account.

UPDATE: I just got an email from Paypal to send the item back to Joe and to expect a full refund. Let's see what happens when he gets it.

It has also been confirmed that Joemaddox was using the jinxed4dub account as well. Sounds like you already knew that though. Good luck with the refund.

Welp. Now we'll see what Paypal has to say. Seller (Rebecca Fitzsimonds on paypal) called me at 2am and left a message complaining that I am attempting to scam him. I had several appointments to attend to so I didn't immediately respond. Joe decided to call me 8 times in a row, back to back, while I was driving between appointments. I do not talk on the phone while driving so I ignored it.

Joe then decided to escalate the claim, asking for paypal to make a judgement. I amended the claim with the following photos

I don't know how much clearer I can make this. I expected a turbo exhaust manifold and got a UIM and the seller claims what he sent is exactly what I asked for and what he advertised.

I would be willing to do an exchange, I send the UIM back in exchange for the exhaust manifold, but I get the feeling Joe won't do it based on the immature texts and voicemail messages I've gotten.

So yeah, its wait and see. I'm still hoping I can get the item I wanted, but I've still got options to get my money back if I can't.

Rebecca Fitzsimonds is supposedly his "wife" although they have different last names.
I actually had to get the police involved to have Joe stop texting and calling me.
Yet another reason to do business IN THE THREAD. Not in PM's, Emails, and over the phone.
Aside from personal contact info. (That should be done in PM's.)
