Sorry, Another "My Car Won't Start" Thread

Hey Guys,

Ok, hate to start another "my car won't start thread" but I am looking to see if anyone has any advice on this.

So last week we were supposed to have a bit of a snow storm, so I took my other car and left my FD undriven for a week (before I put it away it drove fine, would seem to struggle a little on start up every now and again, but not a huge issue). So I tried to start up my car a couple of days ago and it would not start, the engine would crank, but it would not "catch" and start. I was also getting an electrical buzzing sound coming from under the UIM when I would try to start the car, then clutch out and leave the key in the "on" position. The buzzing would go away when I turned the key to the off position, and the buzzing is to the point where if I put my hand on the UIM, I could feel the vibration from the UIM.

I took a look today and checked my fuel and spark, and I am getting a spark on my leading plugs (checked with the visual arc test to look for a spark) and both my leading plugs are getting a spark. I also pulled one of the spark plugs and it was wet with fuel on the front, so it is getting fuel, and the system is pressurizing (checked it with opening the gas cap and listening for positive pressure releasing when taking it off, and the system is definately pressurizing).

So I'm lost as to what it could be, I reset the ECU as well but no dice. So what happens now is:

I put the key in and eveything looks ok, all electronics are working and look strong.
I clutch in and try to start the car. It will crank and crank and crank but will not start.
I clutch out and I hear the buzzing sound while the key is still in the "on" position.
I turn the key to the "off" position and the buzzing goes away.

Anyone have any idea on this? I'm completely lost here.

Don't know what the buzzing is. Did you check for engine codes?

btw, the pressure buildup in the gas tank is not the same thing as your fuel line pressure...

Thank for the response guys. I don't think it's flooded cause it will give the problem right off the bat een if I left the car along for a few days (I tried to start it a couple of days ago, then tried again, and no dice). I didn't realize the difference between the pressure in the tank and the lines, I thought one was a general indicator of the other. Hmm, need to keep lookin I guess. Will try the ABS fuze now.....

if your plugs are wet,its flooded, doesnt matter if its been sitting or not, they shouldnt be wet(i believe).I honestly cant tell you TOO much about 13b,but its ALWAYS the problem with 12a's(and fc's).It doesnt hurt to try it out.Take out the plugs, deflood the car and see if it starts.Once again good luck

P.S. any guru out here or someone with more knowledge can and possibly will chime in anytime soon.

yup, you guys were right. i just did the unflood technique (pull out EGI relay, pull out both leading spark plugs, crank engine until the white smoke clears (took about 30-40 seconds), put the spark plugs and EGI relay back in, and start car) and the car started like a champ. I think my injectors might be leaking though, will need to have them looked at.

thanks for the help guys, it helped a lot.
