Need help on blown turbos

Need help on blown turbos
i have a 93 rx-7 and i beleive the turbos are blown but im not sure if thats all thats wrong with it there is quite a bit of oil on the under side of the engine and the car wont start anymore well it will but it keeps flooding itself out i took it to a profesional shop and they said the turbos were gone the compression teset were good but im not sure what else could be wrong so would a simple turbo swap fix the problem?????

Oil all over bottom of engine and turbo could mean its rebuild time on them, in my little experience never heard of blown turbos making a car flood though. One of the more savvy guys could answer this better for you. If it does come to it, the turbo rebuild to fix bad seals is pretty easy though.

Also, the hitachi units in these cars are not as easily rebuilt as other units, due to damage that can't readily be observed and will cause oil leaks.

(2) Do not get the stock turbos rebuilt, in my experience they fail more often than not within a few thousand miles.
There are people out there who claim to have good results with rebuilt twins, but I havent seen evidence of it. If your turbos are blown you'll get oil smoke out the exhaust and get lots of oil through the intake tract, which will leak out of your ic couplers and tb to elbow connection, making a serious mess. I just took in a customer car with blown turbos, that's been going through a quart of oil every 50 miles, and who also recently flooded his FD.......

yep i can tell you that rebuilding the turbo's is not a good idear. i learnt the hard way, they (the shop) yep we can rebuild them, they did, and it was worst than befor, so they then tryed it again. this time it went good, but was smoky as. they wanted to do them again, but i was out of there, and now going single.
your best bet is to buy some secondhand turbos off this site, or if you can afford it go bnr or single.
and where is the oil? its most likey just the oil sump, they are known to leak.

but yea there is alot of oil on the underside and well ill explain i was driving home (about 280 miles) and the whole way back i jsut couldnt go very high in rpm's like it would stop at 6 and kinda have no power then when i got home it was reall bad my oil pressure was really high i was low in oil and if i floored it i could only get about 3000 rpms out of it well after awhile it was very hard to start it would roll over just fine but wouldnt crank up i did the whole think for it being floded and it would start but very low rpm's then it would stall and jsut flood it self again after a couple seconds or so.before this when i got home there was some smoke coming from the back passenger side of the engine which i suspected was from the turbo and there was some black smoke out the muffler and on start up alot of white smoke

fuel flooding
Leaking/stuck injector... check static fuel pressure and monitor if it holds after pumps shutoff
blown off hose on map sensor or bad sensor
weak ignition.....bad coil/old plugs
lots of white smoke would suggest a blown coolant seal....may want to double check and see if you get bubles in the cooling system when engine is running.
may also want to have a different shop recheck your compression seeing as the one who said it was ok told you the turbo's are at fault. then again I am not the one that looked at them and i suppose if the comp wheel is seized and there is a stream of oil shooting into the intake then it could be them.....but this is pretty unlikely.
these are the first things that come to mind..hope it helps. If you are not able to take on the task of fixing this yourself I would reccomend you just take the car to Rotorsports racing over in Kannapolis.

The only idea I have is to find a competent rotary shop local to you. Go the Regional Forums and look and see who is near you. Don't bother taking it to a non-rotary shop as they won't know what to do with this car. Same goes for the dealer. They'll just tell you that you need new turbos or a new motor and juice you for all you're worth.
A good rotary shop will know how to properly do a compression test and diagnose the issues you are having.

this is exactly what my car is doing right now. same year... 93... i have the oil leak... the smoke coming from the turbo.... it seems like one turbo may be working though... the car will start if i take out the a spark plug or two and crank it to get the extra gas out... then it will start but will not stay running...
i did the poor mans compression test... took out two plugs and cranked the engine... it sounded just fine...
