Hey guys, my weak copied FD key caused this whole problem today -_-
I turned my 93 on to warm it up while I went inside to go get ready for a tennis game I had later on in the evening. It was about 82 degrees outside and a good day to drive it. Anyways, my key is really weak so it doesn't disengage the lock all the way unless it is forced, I managed to open the door, start it, close it halfway and go back inside. The door locked on me for 1 hour until a locksmith arrived!!
I felt the exhaust and the hood getting hotter every minute and when the fan would turn on, I could hear idle sputtering as if the rpm's were dropping. So, two MAIN questions. What is causing the idle sputtering and would that kind of heat damage any critical components? I have original 39k miles and the strut bar was basically too hot to touch for more than 1 second. P.S the FD had idle problems from a few months ago, once in a while it would idle perfectly fine, but after starting it from its parked position for an hour or so, the idle would drop and shake all over the place.
What did your temp gauge say when you managed to get inside the car?

The idle stutters due to the load on the electrical system from the fans. It should recover almost instantly.
The temp gauge didn't move. I learned that the temp gauge on FD's do not move until the temperature is devastating. And thanks Ryan for the info, yea it does recover
