Compression #s
Dont know if this is the right section, so feel free to move it. I just got a compression test done on my car, and the readings where a consistent 90psi on each rotar. The car has 94k miles on it. Is this good or bad? I have been looking at it looks like 105psi is new, but I also got confused by the fact that people say consistent readings are important. Any help would be appreciated.

Compression results are in the FAQ thread......
90 psi indicates a worn engine, but one without broken seals (assuming the test was done correctly). Coolant seal failure symptoms will have bubbles in the coolant and/or rotor housing will fill with coolant when the car sits for a while.
Either way, a 94k mile engine is most likely nearing the end of its life, which isn't to say it couldn't last another 10-20k miles.

I checked the faq, but just wanted to know how 90 is in the whole scheme of things. The faq didnt have anything like that. As far as the coolent thing goes, if I check that out, and everything seems to be good, than would you say that the motor is in ok condition? I am trying to sell it, and have been getting offers of 5 and 6k. It is an auto and has a dent, but I wanted to know if the motor is in better condidtion than what 6k would warrent. Thanks for your responses.

Define "dent". 6k seems very low to me, even for an auto with 94k on the ticker.
And if you actually followed the links in the FAQ, they both clearly point out what the 90 psi means....

"Dent" means needs a body shop to fix it, and will cost 2k for the best shop to do it near me, or around 1k for an ok shop to do it. I dont know how much it is worth, just 6k seems real low to me, when rollers are going for 4-5k, and yes their body is perfect, but my car functions. Though I may be completely wrong, which is why I am asking.
I followed the links, but will look again.
Thanks for your help.

So you think that by fixing the dent, I can get more out of it? I have thought about doing that, but am afraid once i fix the dent, I will not get more out of it, and or will want to keep it.
As far as the compression test, does that mean the one I got from mazda isnt "good"? They couldnt print out directly, cause the machine was broken, but the guy that worked on the car showed me the numbers, and then typed something up for me. Is that not good enough?
Thanks for all your help, I figured my car may be worth a little more than 6k, but I wasnt sure if I was one of those indenial car owners.
