car jerks in 1st and 2nd gear
Hey guys,
I was doing a test run on my FD over the weekend and I was noticing that every now and then when I push that car in 1st and 2nd gear (half throttle) the acceleration was kind of jerky, but in 3rd gear it was always smooth. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Mine did this same thing. I was contributing it to not being fully warmed up and possibly the way I drove it out of my neighborhood. I've got about 1.5 miles out to the main road and through the neighborhood I run 35 mph or less, and had done it in 4th gear. I don't think I was lugging, but I think I may have been kind of like flooding the engine (like I said, kind of) and not letting it warm up real well at lower rpm. I'll keep the rpms up next time through the neighborhood and see how it does.

This happened after I had been driving the car for about 30 mins, the temp gauge needle was in the middle. I brought it home and told my dad about it and he took the car out and also noticed the same thing.
1st gear - really jerky picks up
2nd gear - jerky pick up
3rd gear - smooth
I was pushing the car couple of day before and it was behaving fine in all of the gears. Also on the side note, I did notice that the car was picking up much better in 3rd gear than the first two.

Check your plug wires and or plug boots
Mine was jerky after a small autocross course were I was using high rpms !
when I was going home getting stuck traffic on the highway , It was jerky
in 1st and secound, My spark plug boot was loose on top left plug
wala problem solved ! Stock wires then I have race wires now !
Or you may have a sparkplug failing !

If you could provide a little more detail, it may helps us troubleshoot for you. First of all, what are your mods? Since the car wasnt doing this previously, lets start with the obvious: Have you made any changes to the car recently?

I have always noticed that, just cruising it would hesitate even after injector cleaning, fuel filter and plugs and wires. Not so bad as the 3k hesitation or fuel cut, more along the lines of the car just doesn't like puttering.
