Arrow Ignition/ECU Problem...

Hey guys,

I've been dealing with a problem over in the Megasquirt section, but I thought I’d bring it over here and see if some of the experts could shed some light. I'm running desperately low on time, so the faster you can help the better.

The problem is this: After numerous checks and tests, I'm fairly certain the N374 ECU that I am using is not working properly (its broken in some way or another). I found out that when this ECU is plugged in, there is no power to the trailing plugs (no spark from the plug wires). When my N370 ECU is plugged in, the trailing work fine.

I've been doing a lot of searching and reading about the N374 ECU, and it seems that I’m not the first one to have this problem.

It seems that everyone (or at least the "experts") says it should "swap without any problem" (from a N370 to N374) but there are numerous threads where people report problems with the installation. Here's what a couple people have said after installing a N374 ECU:

"ran great when I bought it, 2 weeks later I drop it in my car and it acts like its running on one rotor"
"everything plugs right in but I’m not sure why exactly that the Jspec ECU was making my engine run like crap."
"I swapped in a Jspec motor in my 90 FC and I got 3 N374 ECU that are in great shape and tested good, but when all 3 ecu's are plugged in, motor does not fire."
It seems to be the same problem I'm having. So a couple people posted a possible solution; the Knightsports ECU Chip: http://www.mts.net/~chipsale/chipsforsale88-91rx-7.htm

1. Is there anyway to check whether the ignition part of the ECU's circuit board is fried?
2. Do you think this chip would fix the problem? Does the stock chip that this one replaces have the ability to kill the trailings?
3. Any other suggestions? If you're going to suggest my only option is to buy a new N370 or N374 ECU, how much do they go for usually?

Thanks a lot for any insight you can provide.

I am also having a similar problem. I am not having any ignition issues though. In fact, given the fact that the leading coil fires both plugs simultaneously, I don't think that the ECU could cause the ignition to cut out on just the rear rotor.
